Can a Masters rookie win this week?

Not since 1979 (Fuzzy Zoeller) has a player won the Masters in his first appearance. This year, there are 24 Masters rookies in the limited field. Simple math says that one of them has a chance to break through and win this week.

Here is a list of the rookies in the field:

So what say you, can one of these guys win? If not, which one do you think will have the highest finish this week?

No chance of winning, but I'll take Spieth as the best finisher.

Patrick Reed (America's player) "chokes" the competition and flaunts the infamous choker proudly, for all the world to see. Gothic chokers will fly off the shelves. Hot Topic and similar retailers are salivating.

I'd say Reed has the best shot. Hope he misses the cut, personally. I want Augusta to choke him more than that choker.

I would not put my money on any Augusta rookie winning it all. Seems that there are a ton of nuances out there that only past tournament experience can give you knowledge of.

I think I agree with that article. I like English and DaLaet as having the best chance, but I just don't think a rookie will take it.

I like someone to break through with their first major, but not one of the young guys. I'm thinking someone like Dustin Johnson, Matt Kuchar, Lee Westwood, Luke Donald, or Hunter Mahan. If Jason Day was healthy I'd like his chances.

Kuch has been playing good lately, but coming up short and not closing. I'd pick him if not for that.

Out of all the rookies I'd lean towards Speith or Reed, and maybe Walker as well.

I would like to see Day or Kuch get it though.

Completely forgot about Jimmy Walker. Is he a rookie at Augusta? I actually may still change and add him to win a major this year in my majors predictions...PGA or US

To me Augusta sets up well for long draw players. Reed plays a good long draw and Speith. Players with fade tendencies don't seem to do as well. I know Rory isn't a rookie but I am really pumped to watch the future of golf group the Masters did with Rory, Speith, and Reed.

Big masters fan and going to a masters viewing party Saturday after an early morning round myself. I think without Tiger there is more drama!

I think Speith and Horschel will have the best chance out of the rooks.

I like Kuch, Phil, and Adam Scott

Darkhorse favorites are Ryan Palmer and of course Boom-Boom

Palmer isn't in the field.

I'm not seeing Ryan Palmer in the tournament field?
