Decent set of clubs for a beginner?

I've got a set of Wilson clubs from play it again and they are too short for me as well as being uncomfortably close to being burnt orange. My job is going to start requiring the occasional golf outing so I'd like to get a good set of clubs that will serve me well without breaking the bank. Is there a set out there that you would say is a good value for a beginner? I am not trying to buy the cheapest set out there but can't justify spending tons of money for 10-15 golf games a year. Tia

I would find a used set of ping g series irons and find a used driver you like and go from there.

agree to both comments above, go to PING website and do a quick static fit so you can be informed on color code and length needed. you will be surprised how well a set fit for you is compared to off the shelf.

Sounds like these would have been great for you. Sold them yesterday for $200 though...

I bought a set of Ping G20 black dot on eBay for just under $300. Great place to look if you're patient.
