Got on last Friday --- freebie on some guy's business account. Friend of a friend deal...
Really drove the ball well, in play all day and long...
Thought the layout was a little squirrely, but had a great time, Despite only 1 bird, six bird misses inside 15 ft., and 4 or 5 three putts, still shot 80. Much more interestng than some of these flat boring muni tracks around Houston that I been playing the last few years. Good true rolling greens and sweet fairways with a lot of elevation changes that keep your brain engaged. The worst I should have shot that day
was 74, sight unseen, no warm up. Easy track from the tees we played.... 3rd set up from the tips

You are the first person I've ever heard speak highly of that goofy course.

As far as I'm concerned, that piece of land is still a landfill.

Don't like the highlands but I do like the lakes. Interesting courses because of what you said about most houston courses. It is fun to play on others dime

Glad you liked it. I prefer the Highlands over the Lakes out there. Wind and elevation changes make it different (and thus interesting) to me compared to most courses within city limits.

For some reason this board despises Wildcat.

I happen to enjoy the course as it's a challenge and something different. The lakes I think is the better of the two. Both can be a mother if there is even a moderate wind.

Not worth the normal $75 rate but if you can get it on EZlinks or golfnow it makes for a good day.

My only complaint with wildcat is the amount of blind shots on that course

i picked up a deal on travelzoo for 5 rounds and 10 1 hour mini group lessons by the Swanson School. i've been to 2 lessons. haven't hit the course yet. but, it seemed like a decent value on the surface. looking forward to getting out there. not my links style courses that i know of around here.

I think I don't like it because there is many blind tee shots, if you never have played there before or very infrequently. Golf is hard enough and do not need any additional uncertainties.

I don't like Highlands that much either, because of all the blind shots and all the places where you can run out of fairway and get into the junk. But the greens are sweet. I've lost about eleventy billion balls on that course.
