I play every Tuesday with a customer of mine after work. Typically we play at one of two clubs closer to downtown, but he and I were in Baytown for work and tried Eagle Point.

For as much traffic as it gets, this course was in a really good shape. The greens were sanded a few weeks ago and a few still show sign, but overall, the course was in great shape. I like how they took use of the topography of the creeks and integrated them into the course, rather than use them as hole boundaries. Fairways and tee boxes were in good condition and were set back yesterday, making for a few tricky shots on the par 3s.

Only complaint was there water zero water in the coolers on the course and no cart girl to be found.

For $30 on golfnow, not a bad club to kill some time.

One of my favorite courses in the Houston area

Saw a very favorable review in one of the Houston golf pamphlets I picked up for toilet reading and have thought about giving it a try.

How far is the drive out there from downtown?

Always enjoyed playing the course and you are correct, it seems that it is always in very good shape.

We got done at 6 and I feared traffic coming home, but I didn't hit any until I hit downtown trying to continue on to I-10 to the Heights. It took me 35 minutes to get home.

Like I said, for $30, it was well worth it.

Played there once but only got through 6 holes before I got rained out. Still have a raincheck but don't know if it's good any more.

From what I saw, it's an amazing value for the price. Course is very well kept. I'd put it around 45 min from downtown.

Most elevation changes I've seen on a course around Houston.

I love playing Eagle Pointe. There are a couple poorly-designed holes, in my opinion (#16 comes to mind). But still one of my favorites within driving distance of Houston.

Takes me 55 minutes from my house in Katy (with no traffic), so I can't imagine it's much over 30 from downtown.

On second thought, #16 is really the only one I'd call poorly-designed. There are some other holes that aren't too exciting, but not many course have 18 great holes.

16 is a piece of **** hole. Seems like an afterthought where they were like, oh let's just throw this ****ty hole in right here.

Absolutely agree on the abortion that is #16.

Can you buy beer there like a normal place yet?

I made my first par on 16 the last time i played it. Hit 19 degree hybrid, 3 iron. It's a bastar d of a hole

16 is stupid. 9 is stupid also from back tees. You have to hit through what seems like a 3 yard chute. Terrible.

I think 9 is a great hole from the tips. It's not easy by any means, which makes it fun. It's not gimmicky, just requires a straight tee shot.

I knew i wasn't the only one who thought that about #16.

Still think they should've moved the tee on 16 back about 60 yards to make it a par 5 (its already a par 5 anyway, just says 4 on the card). I was a member of their MGA when I was in grad school, and back then there was talk of this shortly after it opened, and also making that #18. The back would start with the current 17, 18 would be 11, 10 would be 12, and so on. Thought it was a great idea, but I guess nothing ever came of it.

I think those changes would be great. I like the risk/reward that you usually get from finishing on a par-5.

Playing again today at EP. I will be sure to curse the evil $16 for all of you. At least it will only be 95* outside instead of 105* like last week.

Always had our regional tournaments there. They can make that course extremely difficult if they choose to do so. #16 is my least favorite of all the holes.

Play at least once a month. Great layout(excepting 16), always in great shape. Do not play if it is cartpaths only- will take 6 hours.
I have actually made more 4's on 17 than 16.

Love that course, except 16. Play it a couple of times every year.
