Fire Damage to golf clubs

How long do you want to ignore this user?
So recently my garage caught on fire and everything inside was said to be a total loss....other than my golf clubs. With my luck, I got an A#$hole of an adjuster and he told the restoration company that they could just clean them off, put new grips and they would be fine.

All my clubs were black and it burn the head covers.

I wrote him and email stating what extreme heat does to the epoxy and the fact that soot is very corrosive that it would have long term effects on my clubs and the shafts.

I also explained that I would want a signed letter stating that my clubs were fit to play and that they would assume the liability if any person were to get injured due to the epoxy being compromised by the extreme heat. Honestly, if I swung and lost a head to one of my irons, it could injure or possible kill someone.

I believe that this is fair due to the fact that my clubs will not be in the same condition as the were prior to the fire.

Clubs were the following:
910D2
910H 17
910H 21
3-pw 2008 AP2
Vokey spin milled 56, 60
2012 Scotty Cameron Select Newport

Am i being irrational? How would you handle this? I am just a little pissed to say the least

Even leaving your clubs in your trunk in the Texas heat would probably do a bit of harm to the epoxy, I would assume.

So I think what you're doing is right.

That's a nice set of clubs.

Sounds like you got a really big dbag adjuster. But I would even ask that they be examined by more than one expert, one at your own choosing, who would confirm the integrity of the clubs.

If you have a club fitter that's a friend, have them do a once over as well. You might even see if Titleist has any info on the impact of extreme heat to clubs. Afterall, if they can prove your clubs a loss, you have to buy new ones....maybe from them again.

You're not kidding. To make it worst, he is a 3rd party, not even associated with my insurance company. Those guys are supposed to be easier!

Yesterday, He popped off to my wife, she came home and told me. After that, I tried to call him multiple time to "discuss" his issues, I finally went to his supervisor and went over the problems we were having with him. Within 2 hours he had cut us a out living expense check and approved our total loss claim, except my golf clubs. Seems like he wasn't happy with me going to his boss.

Honestly, how much sense does it make that he said 4 wheeler, 2 lawnmowers, weedeaters, blowers, all my tools, tool chest, power tools, even sprinkler heads were a total loss, but we can just wipe down my golf clubs.

Sooner- thats what I was thinking!

At least the cost of that other stuff will cover new golf clubs. Just take it out of the budget for a four wheeler if you really want. But that sucks and I would be complaining to your insurance company also.

I would send that letter certified mail to your insurance requesting a response. They will most likely not want any liability and will settle or be more reasonable. At least reshaft an grip all the clubs.
