My Christmas gift wishlist is a little short and my wife suggested an animal driver headcover. I've always liked them, but if I have one, would that make me look like a total d-bag? I like the dog (because it looks like my dog) and the polar bear (because I kinda like polar bears and polar bears = ferocious and ice cold, which is what I wish my golf game was like). If it makes a difference, I normally shoot mid 90s (in case it's one of those things where it's okay if you're good, but not okay if you're not very good).

Go for it. I've never given two thoughts to anyone's headcovers.

I've got a Reville head cover that I opted for to bump my total order (Golfsmith I think) over whatever was the minimum of shipping. It's fun. I hate paying for shipping.

Gotta go with the gopher headcover. Everyone likes a Caddyshack reference.

I think you're more of a dbag for worrying about what people will think of you if you have animal headcovers.

In my defense, golfers are a community of people who are all about appearances. I've heard people say they don't care if a belly putter would take five strokes off their scores, they would never use one because they look stupid.

It's all good in Denver. The golfing dress code is laid back, as I am sure you know. I need a headcover for my new hyrbid.... a cougar would be pretty sweet.

I've seen a pretty sweet looking cougar driver headcover. That one was in the running as well before I ultimately decided on the polar bear.

After much deliberation, I have decided to go with the cougar headcover. The reason is because of this clip. Specifically, because of the wisdom at the 0:25 mark.

A couple of AGS at my club bought the bevo headcover and cut off the horns.

I have the Ol'Sarge head cover. It's great to look over to him for motivation.

We have one of those that rotates around my group of golfing friends. We call it the Red-A** Monkey. If you lose your temper and throw a club or a ball or injure another player whether by accident or on purpose, you are awarded the headcover and have to proudly display it until somebody else does something to deserve it. We usually have a ceremony over cocktails to pass the cover. Best time was when we took it to The Old Course at St Andrews.

i think it would be acceptable if i carried a single digit index, but at a 16, i may be pushing it... its one thing to lace drives and split fairways, but as long as the trees are in play, there's significant reputational risk.

My daughter bought me a bassett hound head cover (we have one as a pet) and i have had many compliments. I have a small carry bag with no stand, so the head cover really stands out. Don't really care what others think, as I like it!

Nothing serious. Sometimes a guy will throw a body check into an opponent after he tees off to get into his head. The best was a quick turn of the golf cart which threw the rider out into a sand trap. To be fair, he was pretty drunk at the time.

I got the cougar headcover for Christmas. My dog is terrified of it.
