I joke that my handicap is my swing in general - think Jim Furyk - but I've got a great short game to make up for it.

No official handicap for me per USGA but I shoot 86-89 consistently, so I guess that would make me around a 14-15, right?

Good days result in 83/84. I shoot in the low 90's about 1 in every 6 rounds, usually at a tough course.

I track my handicap on yahoo, so it's not an official USGA handicap, but currently I'm a 12.4, which is the lowest it's ever been. At the beginning of the year it was in the high teens but I've been getting a lot better.

At the course I normally play, a very short muni with water everywhere, I shoot anywhere from 80-90 usually, and on harder courses (6500-7000 yards) (Newport Dunes in Port A or Sun City in Georgetown are recent examples) I've shot between 85 and 95.

I track my on WWW.OOBGOLF.COM and I am currently at 6.2. I score anywhere from mid to upper 70's to low 80's.

Your Handicap is not an average. Without getting too much into it, think it more as what you would be Capable of shooting on a really good day.

So you normally shot 85-87 ish. On a really good day you could go out and post an 81 or 82, not too far flung. so your closer to a 11 or an 12.

please keep in mind, this is off the top of my head with no calculations done at all, but this loose application will be much closer than the typical "average" of scores will be.

what he said, basically you take your lowest differential (based on slope and rating) *.96

Now once you get a to 7 rounds you take the average of your two lowest differentials.

So if you shoot (differential) 100 (28), 95 (23), 90 (18), 95 (23), 85 (13), 83 (11), 90 (18)

So basically if you were to just average your scores it would be 91 so about a 19*.96 (18.24)

But for a handicap you would take (11 + 13)/2 and be a 12

+ 1.1; I've shot a ton of 70s and 74s this year, with quite a few scores in between, and a 75-77 here and there. I don't shoot in the 60s nearly as much as I once did, but that's mainly because courses are tougher in Denver than Houston.

I've held things together decently for being really unhappy with my swing. I've had 3 poor rounds in a row, so I'm taking a break (4 days, haha) and looking forward to skiing season. I figure I can forgot a lot of the things I'm doing wrong, and it will be easier to correct next spring.

But one good round will change that mindset, and I'll be loving golf again.

Shoot mid-80s. I started tracking my HC in March or April using Oobgolf and am currently a 11.5. Shooting my 80 at Willow Fork a month ago immediately dropped it from a 13.0 to an 11.0.

oob is nice is you can go round to round and see how your handicap is tracking.

I'm at about a 15. I've been tracking using my SkyCaddie and their online software. I've been shooting low 90's and in the 80s most of the year. I've shot as low as an 81 this spring.

Been playing fairly well lately, but can't seem to shoot that really low score that I know I have in me. Can't get the putter hot enough. Maybe I need to switch it out for a change of pace.

Between a 12-22 I tend to play up or down to my compition ....

Was at a 4 going into this weekend but the next GHIN revision mid-month will probably drop me to a 2.5 (based on my quick and dirty calculations).

Doubt anyone is as nerdy as me, but also keep in mind that for whatever reason, they round each differential to the nearest tenth. But then your handicap index isn't rounded, it's truncated after one decimal place.

Figured this out after wondering why my official GHIN didn't match my own spreadsheet in the past.

1.3 with scores still counting from almost a year ago. Ironically, the last year has been my best stretch of scores, even though I'm playing less than I ever have.

Edit...with regard to your average score vs hcp., I remember being told at one point that you should shoot around your handicap about 25% of the time.

5.3 confirmed USGA handicap index with about 3 years of scores posted

9.6 Index. Have been as low as 8.0 and as high as 11.3 in the past couple of years.

5.6 now, had it down to a 3.9 last year. Ill shoot 75 if I play great, 76-79 if I play good, 80-81 average, 82+ if I play poor....

Although I did shoot a 91 recently, my worst score in the last 3 years....

Played off a 6 two years ago, then had shoulder surgery and play off a 10 now. I hit some shots that leave you wondering how I'm not scratch and some shots that make you wonder if I've ever played golf before.

2.3. Down from a 6 near the beginning of the year. Amazing what happens when you move from alaska to vegas and play two or three rounds a week. I've really been finding my slot lately but have not yet shot that really low round that is waiting for me.

Still working on a formula to get the current handicap on the first sheet.

Very inconsistant.

Was a 10.7 index 2 years ago, shot 81-86 most of the time.

Currently 16.0 index, over the last 2 years have had trouble breaking 90, seems like half my rounds are 100+. It's ugly.

Gross average is a 92 (rounding up). Handicap index is a 16.5.

I base my performance on gross average, as it gives a true reflection of my game on average. Handicap index (to me) reflects potential.

So when people ask me what I normally shoot, I tell them "My gross average is 92".

6.1 for now. Playing constantly through college and my early single life did wonders for it, but marriage and especially kids has built in a steady inflation factor.

An awesome 40 round front nine got me back into golf, but i've been having trouble breaking 95 the last two times out. I'm diving back into it and just got back from the range so i'm hoping a little practice after laying off for 4 years will help me get back into the 80's.
