I am an avid golfer and very knowledgeable of the game. In saying that everyone has their own personal preferences in golf balls. I'm curious to hear y'alls favorite or top 3 golf balls to use on the course. Me personally am a fan of the obvious ProV1 (even though its shell is ridiculous soft)

ProV1x for me. I so used to how it reacts around the greens, that I'm a mess with another ball.

I'm a ProV1 guy but my son and I hit the TM Penta and it is pretty nice!

The latest Golf Digest has a section rating balls that are out now. Some interesting stats regarding "cheap" balls (Pinnacle, Top Flite, etc) vs. high-end balls.

I like the ProV1, but for the money:

Nike tour d for me. I like the prov around the greens but the distance loss isn't worth or.

I have found the ProV1x to also be just about the longest ball I've hit. Maybe it just suits my swing?

I went out and played with some randoms the other day and was hitting the Yellow Z-Star. They didn't know what it was and thought I was some spare using a yellow ball. Well I finished at 81 with an OB shot .

I actually have about 100 of those Top Flite Gamers in my garage. I was sent a box of 500 from Callaway to hand out at a demo and get reaction to them.

They are actually a pretty good ball, but tend to cut real easily. I may use 4 or 5 of them a round just due to cuts and scuffs from my wedges.

1) I scooped up about 75 balls out of a lake at Glenbrook about 6 months ago. I'm still playing with those.
2) Got 2 dozen free Callaway warbirds with a promotional giftcard to Callaway
3) Got 30 Top Flite 7000s or something also for free
4) Whatever our friend the starter hands us occationally.

Those are prob my top 4 favorite balls

For whatever reason, I just seem to hit Titliest balls better than any other brand. I obviously like the ProV1, but I have started buying the NXT Tour balls recently and like them a lot too. I used to play reguarly with the DT Solo as well - not sure they still make those.

I think the solo has been replaced with the DT-Carry and DT-Roll

I play the Srixon TriSpeed. The 2009 balls you can get for $15 for 24 balls so it's a pretty good deal. Once that deal is over, I'll probably go with the Titleist NXT or Nike One Vapor.

Titleist NXT Tour: If you aren't a single digit handicapper, this is the best ball for you in terms of overall performance.

Titleist DT Solo: Many say Titleist's best ball is their cheapest ball. My only knock on this ball is when you need the ball to stop on a dime, this ball won't do it.

I am a 12 handicapper and I always shoot in the low 80's. For 5 rounds I switched to a PRO V1 and I averaged 4 shots more per round. They are great when you hit them well. But no forgiveness when you don't.

Titleist Pro V1x for me.

I haven't tried the TM Penta yet. But their other ball is pretty good.

I have been meaning to try the Bridgestone. I've seen a number of people playing it.

Srixon Z Star (the yellow one), B330-S... Pinnacle FX Long- just because!

1) Pro V1
2) Bridgestone's Premium ball (cen't remember the name) - For me it's super long but always chews up in the wedges
3) Free balls - because I can hit them into the ponds while waiting on tee boxes

Just bought a dozen Srixon Z Star X's (Tour Yellow) at lunch. Pretty breezy here today, but I'm pretty excited to give them a shot. My last experiment with a new golf ball was with Bridgestone and I hated it.

Bridgestone E6 is a great ball. Especially for the money. A few key points about this ball.

1. Long off the tee
2. Short iron and mid iron shots will bite
3. Around the greens - Does not spin a smuch as a pro v1 but you can still get it to check. The other day, I hit a 10 yard pitch and got the ball to skip twice and check on a dime right next to the pin.

In short, probably the best ball for the money.

Must be fun to watch them rip back off the fronts of greens.

Gotta love hitting it 20 ft short of the pin and watching it backup to 40 ft.

Any reason why Srixon chose to make a high end yellow ball?

Noodle is a good ball for the price. Also liked the maxfli blackmax when they made them. DT Solo is nice too

Maybe b/c no one has done it yet? Trying to increase sales or get their name out a little more?

Might have found me a new ball. Really impressed with the srixon z star x. It appeared to launch a hair higher than the prov1x, but didn't balloon at all, even into a pretty stiff breeze. I think I like the tour yellow color too. It definitely improved visibility. I hit a pretty long ball and despite good eyesight, I always lose it at the end of its flight. Not so with the tour yellow. Was able to see it bouncing down the fairway. Even if I get sick of the yellow, I could see myself continuing to play the z star x in white.

Some golf shop guy tried to tell me one day about the reason behind the yellow Z Stars.. something along the lines of more pleasing blah blah blah.. I was like okayyyy buddy.. Ill stick to the reason they are easier to find!
