the funniest thing about this whole thing is that i've got a bagwell jersey hanging in my closet right now. in fact, while i was in school, i never missed opening day at enron errr... orange juice and i made to a heck of a lot of games.

in fact, the rangers may be the only team in baseball that i like more. however, astros' fans always feel the need to dog on the rangers to justify their team and their sh!*ty city.

so i hope the stros win it all, partly, becasue i consider myself a fan, and partly, because maybe it'll make it more managable to live in a city rife with problems, not limited to but including: being the fattest city in the US, being one of the country's most polluted cities, having one of the worst traffic problems, being one of the most overpopulated, etc etc.

but hey. as your sitting in traffic on the betway tomorrow, suffering your one millionth day with a smog advisory, 90% humidity, and 100 minute commute, remember this...at least the astros are in the NLCS.

Mavs: who knows this year, showed heart and grit then got outran and KILLED by the refs in the second round

Stars: Cup champs in 99
Aeores: Thimble champs once? nice minor league affiliate

Titans.. loved H-town so much nearly won a super bowl the next year in Tenn

I am a Ranger fan. Have been for over 30 years. It is hard for me to understand why an otherwise disinterested observer who lives in Texas (and does not consider themselves an Astros fan) would pull for St Louis to beat the Astros. Since the Rangers seem like they may never make it (thank you tsip Hicks), I think it would be great for the Astros to win one.

we're not necessarily pulling for the Cards, it's just many Houston fans feel obligated to berate and talk constant smack to their Dallas friends and such. So whenever something like this happens our duty is to let them hear about it. I hope they win, but don't want to constantly hear about it.

I was just like dei until I ran into 2/3 of the Houston fans on TexAgs, beginning with Brandi. These guys sticks their feet in their mouths so much, it almost makes me believe in karma.

I have never really understood the whole Houston Vs. Dallas/Fort Worth rivalry. I'm from Houston and I have never (outside of when they are playing a Houston team) rooted against a Dallas area team.

I actually like the Rangers and I wish the Astros had Big Tex on our team (now that Bagwell can't even move his arm).

The thing to do is not even pay attention to people like Brandi... He just makes Houston fans look bad (although he sometimes is amusing).

Ditto here! Tough loss last night. If the Astros don't win game 6, I don't think they have a prayer in game 7.

What a hell of a game though!

I'm a huge Rangers fan, and I'm rooting FOR the Astros all the way.

While watching the game, I had the uncontrollable urge to hop for the 'Stros to choke, and they did. Then, after the game I thought "Why did I want the 'Stros to lose?", and it hit me.

But, then I decided that most Houstons can't truly be so focused on hating Dallas, as those of us in Dallas really don't hate Houston, we just prefer Dallas over Houston.

I was born in Houston, and as a kid used to go to the Astrodome w/ my dad to see them play great teams like the Cincinatti Reds. In spite of the fact that you internet Spewstonians hate everything about Dallas, I'm cheering for Spewston because it's where I was born and spent 7 great years of childhood, even though most of those years I was either running away from mosquitos or designing a state of the art breathing aparatus that would protect my lungs from the smog as I got older.

I started this thread because every "ranger" fan out there decided to start a post about the astros choking. Well they did choke game 5 away. However they are still up 3-2 in the series with 2 of the best pitchers throwing in the next 2 games. I expect the stros to win one of these games.

After they make the world series and win the first 2 games, the dallas fans again will be starting threads about the astros losing game 3. I dont understand where the moral victory is coming from in all this. Hey at least there is Hockey up there in metroplexy around october!

The mavs were 3-2 favorites in the series and were expected to win. I hardly call going to game 7 with the favorite a choking job. Nice jab at the refs as well. Typical mav fan.
