So I am driving down I-20 (not anywhere near Austin) and some girl in her car pulls up next to me, waits for me to look over, and gives me the hook 'em horns. The best way to describe her demeanor is to think of a little kid making a pig face and giving the horn sign of course. Of course she saw my A&M Former Students sticker and could not resist. Not to my surprise, no t.u. sticker or anything on her car.

Like I said above, I thought to myself, oh well, just a bad egg. But then a few weeks later my brother tells me about how someone did the same thing to him. Is this normal behavior? I don't go around giving the horns down to every t-sip I see. Any thoughts?

Sounds pretty childish. I don't have any UT stickers on my car so I have not had that same experience. However, wearing any UT gear often gets similar responses from Aggies.

i think it goes both ways...It happens all the time between Texas State and Concordia fans..

I actually put these responses in two categories. The first is like the one described in the initial post where the derogatory remark/gesture is pretty much the only communication. Very childish and reflects poorly on the instigator.

The second is where you are interacting with someone (or about to) and you use a slight dig as an icebreaker followed with smile and some other conversation. This is okay by me. For example when I was playing golf in Colorado recently, the group in front was letting my group play through. An Aggie in that group noticed my UT cap and joked "I didn't know I was letting a Horn play through." We had a few minutes to kill while teeing off, and he had just done me a favor, so I took no offense. Now, if he had just driven by in his golf cart and his only communication had been some snide comment (this has happened) than it goes into the first category of rude/childish.

I agree. Its all in the approach. I can joke around with someone from t.u. if it is in a joking manner. But like you said, this instance was very childish. I felt like clapping and saying, "Good Job"

What kind of responses? I know there are a few Ags out there that will go over the top, but hopefully they are few and far between. What do they do?

I am married to an Aggie and she gives me sh*t all the time. Now I know that is different, but it is easier to take since we simply have owned the Ags the last few years. It will be a hard pill to take if it changes back to 84-94 times.

frogman - most of the responses are in the second category (see golf course example) or at least in the gray area. Only occasionally, will I get the really childish/rude response that you got.

Everytime I see someone in a horns shirt, I just smile, crap in my hand and throw it at them. Sad thing is, most of them just smile back and eat it.

Sad... the nutless bovines and their White Trash Army are always searching for recognition from their Daddy A&M.

I told this story before, but some of you might have missed it....

One saturday, I'm leaving my sister's subdivision (after watching the ags)and driving on a road that run's parallel to the brazos river. There are several river lots for sale and I see an old lady in a great big cadillac was driving across the dirt lots and dropped her front tire off in a hole.

So, I stop and offer to help her out. Pretty easy, had her straighten her tires and back up as I pushed and lifted that quarter of the car. So, she rolls down her window and thanks me, I say "no, problem".

Then, the lady says, "are you an aggie?"...I was wearing an aTm shirt....

"yes, I am"...

she says, "I hate to hear what my husband says when I tell him an aggie got my car unstuck"...

"why, is he a t-sip"...

"yes, he is"....

"well, why don't we put this car back in the hole and you don't have to tell him a thing"

I've gotten the opposite on more than one occaion, mostly from Ags and Sooners but some others too. I've had people speed up to get beside me or pull in front of me just to flash the sign down. It's dumb no matter who does it.

When my wife and were engaged she lived in CS and I had problems more than once there. I tried to keep the paraphanilia to a minimum unless there for a game, but the only hats I had we UT ones. Most people there were fine, but I got a handful of signs and comments. Twice a Longhorn logo on my car was sawed off while parked in from of her house. One window sticker and one little foam football helmet antanea ball that her mom gave me.

I wouldn't get too offended(or start calling it obsession or search for recognition) until we start our longhorn stickers with upside down or mutilated "aTm" stickers

Sooner, you can't be serious? Every OU game I watch I see the upside down hookem and you only play us once! Not to mention you've got our number right now.


Sadly this phenomenon is spreading to other schools...
