No doubt....looks like Farmer's gonna be surprised when he finds out who his real daddy is.

I have hated Canseco ever since he came on the scene years ago. I think he would lie to cheat his own mother out of her social security check. Nevertheless, why did everyone question his credibility on this? I sure figured he was telling the truth with at most slight embellishment.

Everyone seems to agree that roids were rampant. Everyone agrees that Canseco was at the forefront. Why wouldn't he be able to truthfully name a bunch of names of guilty people? Now, even the one name he listed that seemed the most doubtful has been implicated. I hope that stops all the talk about Canseco's credibility. Again, not defending Canseco at all! It is just that even a liar doesn't have to lie when the truth is right in front of him and serves him well.

BigMac was the only one that didn't lie at the hearing. Of course, he had lied previously. But at least he didn't lie under oath. Not exactly a proud accomplishment but better than the other POS's. What a terrible example for our kids.

Why are pro athletes an example for your kids? Aren't YOU supposed to be the example for your kids?

If you want guys who barely graduated from high school to be an example for your children, okay... but don't beeotch when you realize it was a bad choice. These guys are professional athletes, not your personal babysitters.


P.S. At the end of the 70s, you couldn't have put 11 players on the field if you subracted the guys who smoked dope before lifting weights, did speed before games, or shot steroids. Suddenly (with the advent of testing) everybody has religion and a holier than thou attitude. I think it springs from the general public's own perceived shortcomings.

BI, I said they were a bad example I never said they should be an example either way. My kids aren't really old enough yet to have to worry. However, you can rest assured I will instruct them on what terrible people most athletes are. It is a shame but it is unfortunately the truth. Obviously, there are some good ones out there but I really think they are in the minority. Simply drug use and cheating on spouse is probably enough to bring the number down to below half. Sad.

Oh and I know you are an internet expert on parenting but a kid needs more than just one or two examples. Parents, can't be the only example for children. Fortunately, I am able to expose my kids to some good people. I just wish there more examples and it would be nice to think there some famous people.

I do agree with your last paragraph. It probably isn't different than previous generations other than we know more.

Perjury is a crime.

Unless, lying in that venue is acceptable, if so he gets a "free pass" on the perjury issue, but still loses credibility, and hit stats mean nothing, at least the homers.

Seriously, it is very hard to convict on perjury. Since the test would only indicate subsequent use it could not be used to show he lied at the time. Of course, anyone with common sense will convict him in the court of public opinion.

As one of his biggest advocates in the past for the HOF, I hereby nominate Craig Biggio to take his place.

Whatever he got busted for, it's a sorry excuse for steroids. If you're gonna do it, get you some of what BigMac, Canseco, Bonds, and Sosa are using. All those dudes have 20 inch biceps. Raffy looks like your average 40 year old.

BI - Ski and I are lucky because we have wives who can be role models for our kids. People with law licenses make about as good role models as modern athletes.
