I consider this to be a pretty objective analysis. If you can't add anything more than, "so and so will be a 4-time AA," then please don't bother responding. There's a rivalries board for that.
1. Reports from this week had Finley playing like a man amongst boys. Needless to say that carried over into tonight. I can definitely see him seeing snaps this season as he gives us another receiving threat in the H-back mode. Very impressed with him.
2. Jamaal Charles didn't disappoint either. Glider who doesn't mind ducking his shoulders at time. Very nice speed.
3. Chris Brown. Little doubt he was the best defensive player on the North Squad and probably the entire game. Causing havoc the entire night.
4. Colt McCoy. Nice throw on the TD pass early in the game. Still don't know what he'll be able to do at the next level but we'll see.
5. Roddrick Muckelroy. Absolutely blew up Lane on a blitz. Lot of athleticism.

Summary. Mr. Miyagi says, "Trust quality, not quantity." I have to say that is fairly apt with this class.

1. Howard Morrow- Looks to be a dang good player. Thought the Horns Down was a bit silly. Is giving a thumbs up really that hard to do?
2. Lane. Right now he's more Toombs than Bettis. And believe me, that's not a good thing. Overweight. Had a nice 20 yard run only to be blown up by Muckelroy soon after.
3. Brantley. Only saw one punt. Second half and it was a very good one. His Dad was a H.S. coach of mine back in South Texas. Wish him the best. I think he will be in the Lechler mode.
4. A. Brown had one nice PBU that I saw. Seemed pretty athletic.

1. J. Charles is a stud. Might want to get your best tutor on him, though.
2. Muckleroy blew up Lane on one play. Has he been in the game since then?
3. C. Brown almost had a sack. Other than that, haven't heard his name. Usually, the announcers mention the guys who are causing havoc.
4. J. Finley looks great at WR. Not sure how that translates when he's playing DE. Rest assured: he will be the best pass catching DE in the Big 12.
5. C. McCoy looks like a 2A QB. Keep your fingers crossed that Young doesn't get hurt and that Nordgren decides he really needs that third degree.

1. H. Morrow - stud.
2. Lane needs to shed some weight but was causing havoc on his 20 yard run.
3. Brantley will punt for us this year.
4. A. Brown has looked good in coverage.

If I were interested in the sip take on anything, which I am not, I would visit horn***s.

As for Charles, I'm sure EVERY aggie recruit and footballer speaks like a Rhodes Scholar, correct? Did you ever hear Ty Warren?

If you don't think that Brown wasn't causing havoc out there then you certainly are unable to be objective. He was clearly the best playmaker on Defense for the North. And yes, Way was calling him out quite a bit.

Finley at DE? That's funny. I know the concept of an athletic TE is foreign to you. You might want to get used to is since you finally have one in Bennett.

Hmmm, you extol the virtues of Lane because of one play but wonder where Muckelroy was after his stoning of Lane. I didn't exactly see Lane putting him major highlights.

Like I said, stay off the post if you don't like objectivity.

Brown was the best defensive player on the field even though he didn't win the MVP.

No doubt Charles has talent, but how in the world can he qualify academically? If he gets in at tu, how in the world can he stay eligible?

Lane will have to lose some serious weight or be resigned to play FB.

McCoy lacks the arm strength for a D-1 QB, but could see back-up time this year because of the lack of depth behind Young. McCoy's PT will depend on who Brown signs this year at the QB position.

Morrow is a great athelte and the best wide-out on the field.

Finley has great hands but may be a "tweener" in the college game. He will not be able to use his height that successfully in the college game, but he does have great talent.

Brantley could punt for us as a freshman.

Brown will probably redshirt dpending on our depth needs in the secondary.

Which you care to point out exactly what was so non-objective about those comments?
I thought Morrow was a heck of a player.
I compared Brantley to the greatest punter you guys have ever had and currently the best in the NFL.
And I said Brown seemed pretty athletic. I'm sorry if I didn't see every PBU he might have had but I was watching more particularly UT players.

Sorry to say it, but everything BOM said is true. The best defensive players out there were Brown and Muckelroy. If Charles isn't a five-star recruit, I don't know what is.
J. Lane, as much as I want him to be a great player, had better lose some weight and learn how to block.
Finley, as an Aggie fan, I'm depressed. He's going to be torturing us for the next four years.
Morrow looked great. A real baller.
A. Brown looked good too. He doesn't seem to like playing corner but did a good job of it.
Grimes destroys people. One on one he is very hard to shake.
Overall, depressed. Lane looked plain fat out there. Seeing him and Charles on the same field makes me think back to the Jackie thread over the last few days and how Texas and OU keep beating us because they simply have better players...bummed.

Lane was off-balance when Muckelroy hit him with both feet planted firmly on the ground and bottom line, Muckelroy did not get to the QB!

I have to agree on Fin. and the overall athleticism of the t.u. kids, but we'll see what the next level brings.

There's been a lot of complaining about Lane and much of it was warranted. However, let the S&C guys handle him...a crappy high school game with one week coaching from a staff that failed to use their players correctly is not the end all judgment on Lane's ability to play at the next level. Lane will be used by Fran's staff in the manner and condition in they want to use him.

Morrow is something to be excited about

A & O, I suppose those weren't objective but one hardly had to do with grading a performance. As much as you aggies talk about school pride, you would think you would expect a thumbs up rather than a Horns down. To this day I've NEVER seen a UT athlete do a thumbs down. But it didn't detract from my thoughts on Morrow.

Agree on all sips points! Finley is awesome, and that tells me how excited AGS should be to have Bennett, who is far superior to Finley. J. Lane is big, dont know that he was used in the way I would have tried to use him.. But? Morrow is BAD A$$, best wide out on the field. here's my objective analyses:

1. Finley - not bad. Poor's man Bennett
2. Jamaal Charles - Hates people touching his ears, but is fast.

4. Colt McCoy - best QB to go to tu since Young
5. Roddrick Muckelroy - the next Mike Williams

1. Howard Morrow - best WR on the field
2. Lane - poorly used. tons of upside
3. Brantley - Shane Lechler
4. A. Brown - best DB in the game

I thought chris brown was extremely active. Looked like a real solid player and was constantly around the ball.

Two thing absolutely jumped out at me.

1. I couldn't believe how fat Lane was.

2. I couldn't believe how dumb Charles sounded.

A. Brown played well. But I read the story on the TExags front page about Brown from the Victoria paper. He says himself he would prefer to play safety. I thought he looked good though.
Morrow really only got his large yards against coverage other than Brown by the way. Encouraging.

here's my summary of BOM's analysis:

UT players are all bad ass
a&m recruits are all d1aa at best.

Let's compare J-Mike and Tellus:

1. Speed Big Edge J-Mike.
2. Height Big Edge Tellus.
3. Hands. Push. They are equal.

And as far I'm concerned if Melton can make it in and Garnet Smith (750 SAT) could stay eligible then Jamaal Charles sure as hell can.

atealot, there you go again. Did you actually watch the play? Lane was off his feet trying to turn to take on the block and Muckelroy hit him with both feet on the ground. Lane ended up on his butt, but the guy didn't get to the QB. All of this and Lane has had no work at protecting the QB. Lane was way over-weight but the Muckelroy hit meant nothing to the flow of the game.
