Hey mensa.....when you feel heat under the ground, walk in a direction that leads you away from said heat. Another option would be, if you are stuck on top of a mountain, follow the following instructions:

1. Look around you for a place to stand that is below the area on which you are currently standing.

2. Move to that area.

3. Repeat steps one and two until arriving at the foot of the mountain.

You're right....when you are standing on a volcano, the coolest area on the mountain is at the top...in the volcanic cone.
