I'd think Duke makes fun of every other school with student sections. Your right jab is weak today.

Surf, the ACC is unquestionably a basketball conference. This argument has nothing to do with them, the argument is Aggies calling out real basketball fans, when they know nothing of the sort.

Just out of curiousity, what makes a 'real' basketball fan?

I played basketball for 8 years. I coached little league, coached skills camps, and refereed games. I'm a huge college basketball fan. I went to over 75 A&M basketball home games when I was in school. We sucked horribly. Am I somehow not a real fan because my team sucked? Is it somehow impossible for me to figure out what a 'real' fan is?

I real fan is whoever Welker says it is. After all, ttech has been a basketball powerhouse for eons. That kind of long history of success and rabid support is something that on one else can duplicate.

You guys are way off base when you say the fro bros are using this organization to get money. The fro bros were offered a sponsorship and turned it down. They have spent hundreds of dollars on paint and traveling to away games. I saw them at the sweet 16 game in Albuquerque and most of the student body thinks they are badass for tech sports. Good luck with those yell leaders giving you that good ol' spirit to get to the NIT!

duke sucks. funniest thing i ever saw in a game was one time they were playing some scrub team like elon and when they bent over to slap the floor the other team threw the lob. laetner got a face full of balls when he stood up since he was thew one under the basket.

i know but since i'm in the middle of acc country i thought i'd talk smack too. i don't really care about the whole thing but it's a real slow day at work. actually i haven't done anything but surf the web since i came in.

People who do freaking A&M yells at basketball games. And if you deny that, you're living in denial.

Congrats for going to games when you sucked (can you really say when?) but you were in huge minority. I did it too, which makes me upset when people like these guys come in when Tech gets good and gets a HOF coach and then proclaims themselves as the best sports fans at Texas Tech.

I'm w/ you, Welker. For an Aggie, I'm a little more progressive. The three things I hated more than anything at baskteball games:
1. Yell Leaders
2. Yells
3. The FTAB

It's just not conducive to good basketball atmosphere. I love those 3 things at football games, but hoops isn't football. You need a more alive enviornment. That's why A&M baseball always draws well. The traditions are completely different that the football games. After an entire semester of yells, yell practice, etc. I want a break.

[old man]Back in my day, when we had games at G Rollie[/old man] we would stay away from the crowd that sat in the student section, stood the whole game, and did yells every 3 minutes. We had the same seats on the baseline, 1 row up from the floor. We sat unless something exciting happened. Which was probably once every 10 games or so. We harassed players (nicely, of course).

Yeah, I'm not dogging the yell leaders like most rival fans on here do, or the yells. I've said it plenty of times, Kyle Field is the best college football atmosphere I've even been in personally.

But Kyle Field and Reed Arena aren't the same thing, and they need to be VERY different, moreso than they are now. But hey, I'm just speaking as a college basketball fan, not as a "less progressive Aggie than C-Mack or grego"
