During A & M's heyday, there were more aggie t-shirts here in Austin than longhorn t-shirts. I can't speak about the rest of the state, but I lived through that era here. It was not pretty, so I welcome longhorn t-shirts.
Definition: t-shirt: one who wears a college's t-shirt while never attending said school.

I like it that yall call TSU, Sam Houston, Baylor, etc. students as t-shirt longhorns. It appears yall need to denigrate those colleges also;I'm not sure why, but guess that it might make yall feel better about A & M.
Texas doesn't need to put down those schools, after all We're Texas. Enough said.

We arent denigrating them, theyre doing that to themselves. I wouldnt care about a t-shirt fan who never went to college but to me it seems pretty bad to ignore your own alma matter and go out and put money into another schools program by buying their gear. Its sad to see that here in Texas the rule seems to be "why have pride in your own school when you can hop on the bandwagon of the school currently in the limelight?" Hell, this is partly why A&M catches so much crap from everyone because we refuse to be ashamed and refuse to not have pride in our school even if we arent in the lime light right now. For that, many cant stand us and maybe its because our pride is considered excessive, or maybe, just maybe, its because it reminds other schools fans what a bunch of apathetic sell outs they are.

See, that is the thing you will never be able to understand being a sip. We know Texas A&M is the best school regardless of our record on the football field. We will support our school and team no matter how good or bad.

If you are talking to me, I ain't dissing on my east Texas farming/ranching heritage. It was an aggie who posted about most of Texas being t-shirt longhorns and that uneducated west Texans being t-shirt tech fans. I was just pointing out that most of rural east Texas is made up of t-shirt aggie fans.

The responses on the net certainly make it obvious why standardized reading comprehension scores are so low though. People read and comprehend entirely diferent than the words mean.

Yeah, I've read some post from SOME Ags, but I don't seek validation from ANYONE concerning my support of Ag sports. If some people have a problem with me being a t-shirt fan, then that's their tough sh*t. My best friend is an Ag class of '93, and he's all right with my t-shirtedness.

texas_fan i'm a t-shirt fan as well. unlike almost everyone on this board i am not from or have lived in texas. i have the respect from my peers for being who i am. i don't try to hide that i'm just a fan. i put my 2 cents in where i feel it is needed on serious discussions. i like to pick and play on here but i also know my place as a fan compared to a real Ag.

i get in discussions on other boards and my input has been well recieved. i read those threads and posts about the t-shirters and for the most part i agree with them. their point is valid when it comes to representing the school and there is a fine line in that especially over on the other boards. what they hate is people like rwilson who come on here and make them look bad. i don't blame them either.

i went to unc and i'll be damned if i'm gonna let some t-shirter disrespect my school as far as from the university standpoint. i could care less about the sports part. you didn't see me running on here and bragging about them winning the national championship or having 4 first round draft picks. i don't care about that. i care about what A&M does.

hell i could brag about Ohio State too cause almost my entire family went there. i grew up not far from the 'shoe and have been to several games there. my best friend was an all american on their basketball team. i've met a lot of the legendary football players and am going to hang out with the stars of the team in 2 weeks. none of that matters to me. i gave up the Buckeyes over 20 years ago to be an Aggie fan and that's what i'll be till the day i die

You did't put down other schools by quoting part of my post, but the part of my post your quoted was regarding aggies putting down other schools. When you know you are the best you don't have to denigrate those schools, especially academically as many ags do on here. I don't see Texas fans talking smack to non-Big 12 schools. Well, occasionally to Blinn....

I'm not big on remembering what everyone posts on here, but I have enjoyed some of your posts.
UNC is a great school. IMO they are one of the biggest t-shirt universities. I know that blue sells a lot.
I don't give a flip who you support, but how do you answer the aggies on here who put down non-UT graduates who support UT? Their beef is that you should support the school you attended. You are a perfect example just in reverse of what aggies bltch about.

like i said i get respect for the fact that i am open about being a t-shirter. i wouldn't have that spirit tag if i didn't have their respect. i also don't brag about the greatness of the Aggie accomplishments like a lot of t-shirt texas fans do on here. i didn't talk smack when you guys lost to A&M in basketball or baseball. i probably won't when A&M beats y'all in football either. that's not my style.

you are right about the t-shirt unc thing. they remind me of a lot texas fans on here and hornfans as far as the'we're texas' thing is concerned. unc fans think they can rule the nba. i thought it was funny as hell when oakland beat them in the opener this past year. there is a ton of arrogance at unc just like i see it from the texas fans on these sites as well. don't get me wrong on that cause i see it from Aggies as well but not like i do from you guys. yeah you have the right to boast and brag now because you have the better team but some of your fans take it a little too far.

it cracks me up to read how they seem to think the whole nation only talks about them. i'm on the east coast, so is tacking and probably several others. most of the people out here who watch football don't know what your quarterback's name is. they don't look at you guys as a national power either. you are in the same boat as A&M: a top 25 team. like it or not that's how it is here. you aren't a florida school, Ohio State, michigan, usc or ou so they don't have a lot of respect for you or A&M.

back to your point about the t-shirt bjtching: johnny utah - wentt to acu but made out that he was a texas alumni. there are several others as well. patch is probably in this group as well. the only one i've seen from the Aggie side was rwilson who more than likely did not along with all the other lies he told. that is what pisses off everyone here about t-shirters. don't act like you went when you didn't.

like lonestar said i don't care what everyone thinks about me being a t-shirter. that's their opinion and they are entitled to it. i do my own thing and so does lonestar. most t-shirt Ags on this site get respected because they are upfront that they are a t-shirter. i get respect from some of the sip fans and raiderfans as well because of this. to each his own

dunno about the academics. i'm right here at duke and unc and wake forrest. really know one cares where you went to school here. it's all about whether you are a heel or duke fan in bball. we have people in upper management where i work who only have associates degrees from the local community college. granted they worked their way up but all in all where you went to school is irrelevant here. i work in a printing company and most of the pressmen don't even have a high school diploma.
