If I'm not mistaken, the apartment he broke into was the wrong apartment, meaning the person he thought stole it didn't even live there. So, you're rationale that what he did was "okay" does not fly.

You ARE mistaken. The apartment in question was leased by the girlfriend of the actual thief. She allegedly allowed her boyfriend to store the tv along with some other stolen goods there for a while, and this is what lead to the confrontation with Benson. Benson and his teammates did not find it there when they entered the premises, however. Benson's tv was subsequently recovered and returned to him, so he got his possession back but not before being suspended for the Baylor game. Benson has said in interviews that he wishes he had handled the situation another way.

Yes, and we won't be surpirsed when VY signs a "legal" minor league baseball contract after this coming season. No, I don't have facts, but yes, I am saying that something is fishy about the fact that these t.u. players don't ever leave early. That's all I'm saying, is that it's fishy. And that it's quite a coincidence that these players that clearly have football as their futures have minor league baseball contracts.

However, you will find that I am one that thinks Mack is one of the top coaches around. His record speaks for itself. He has made t.u. into one of the top 10 programs in the nation. If not for coaching in the same division as the nation's best coach, he'd have probably 3 conference titles and might have played for a couple national championships.

The above paragraph was typed merely to prove that I'm not some stupid guy who just criticizes all things texas. Do I hate t.u.? 100%. Do I recognize that they are really good at sports? Unfortunately. Do I think there's something at least a little fishy about never losing guys to the pros? Definitely.

Mack runs a big country club at UT - that's why they stay. They will never have it so easy again in their life.

You should be surprised. I don't think Young has even played baseball at the high school level. No way Tom Hicks would sign him to a baseball deal. Give us some credit - if we're going to cheat, we'll hopefully be smarter about it than that.

Out of high school:

The Dodgers drafted Benson in the 12th round.
The Reds drafted Greg Porter in the 3rd round.

I can buy that one.

Truthfully, VY wants to be a QB in the NFL. He'd be smart to stay another year as a redshirt senior and try to improve on the items NFL scouts tell him to work on. He can ask for an informal evaluation of where he would likely go in the draft after this season, and the assessment will help make his decision.

Where to begin? Which players? Ricky and Cedric? That's it that I know of. Not what I would call a trend. Also, both Cedric and Ricky have made it clear in the past that baseball was their passion. In fact, isn't it glaringly obvious that football wasn't what Ricky had in mind for his future?

Insert "Ricky on the beach smoking pot joke" here

The hole in that argument, alma is that Benson was a stud baseball player in high school. VY was and is not in that same position. Why are you even arguing this? You just look silly.

The thing is, Porter was and is still pursuing baseball. It was clear after about their first games that Benson and Ricky's future was football. Again, I haven't made any specific allegations, just said that it's fishy. It is. That's all.

If they get drafted by a MLB team, how is that fishy? Not to mention, it doesn't benefit either organization (Texas or MLB team) for a player to split his time. In fact, Texas really pushed Benson to quit the Dodgers and focus on football.

Unless, you think there is some cheating conspiracy that Texas and some MLB teams have cooked up together. Riiiiiight.

I don't get it. There is absolutely nothing fishy at all about having two players over a ten year period sign minor league contracts. I can't even comprehend your point, I guess.

I think the point is that the Tom Hicks purchase of Ricky's contract raised red flags since it was so important to the horn turnaround for Ricky to return for '98. I don't know the details of the transaction or if there was any benefit he got that he wouldn't have gotten from whoever he was already with.

You really don't have a clue what you're talking about, no offense.

Yes, it was his he was looking for, which had been stolen from him. No one has disputed that until you.

tmr: hey arsshat, i was asking a question, meaning i did not know someone had said it was his. i was not disputing the fact. quit being a douche.

AND ANOTHER THING, micah is RIGHT with the below statement, so shut your sip pie hole

Breaking into someone's house to steal a TV back is a criminal act whether he thought it was his or not.

The Expos took Ricky in the Rule V draft, then traded him to the Rangers. All of this happened AFTER the Heisman trophy and Hicks never paid Ricky a dime, considering Ricky never played again. This did not happen before Ricky's senior season. It was purely a Rangers publicity stunt in December of '98.

Somehow, on Texags, if has become a fact that Hicks purchased Ricky's contract after Ricky's junior year. That's completely false.

NOBODY SAID IT WASN"T A CRIMINAL ACT. Breaking into someone's house is a criminal offense, to be sure.

What you yahoos insinuate is that he went out looking to STEAL somebody's plasma TV. He went to get HIS tv back, and made a criminal mistake in doing so.

Personally, I don't think breaking into someone's apartment to get your own TV back is as bad as breaking into someone's apartment to steal someone else's TV. That's just my opinion.

Let's put it this way, which if the following scenarios would disappoint you more:

1. Your kid gets caught breaking into your neighbor's house trying to steal their TV.

2. Your neighbor steals your kid's TV and your kid gets busted trying to get it back.

Ha, sorry teasipper, but Ced's home invasion occurred on Oct. 7th., 2003. tu played OU that Sat., Oct. 11th, then played Baylor on Oct. 25th.

Maybe Austin police just sat on it until Baylor weekend similar to waiting until after the Rose Bowl to put out the APB for the other participants in some Dec. gun play involving the 'sip that would lead the team in tackles in Pasadena.

Well, if you were able to do that research, you could have easily done the research that showed when he was arrested as well, which was the week of the Baylor game. But you didn't because it didn't help your misinformation. And no, the police didn't sit on it anymore than they sat on arresting the person who stole his television for months upon months.

Some of you guys are classic. Here A&M has had arrest issues at a much higher rate than Texas the last few years yet you are talking about Texas' problems, including one that happened two years ago. It's incredible. Some of you need to get a grip. It's sad.

i dont see how it isnt against ncaa policy for players to sign minor league baseball contracts but jeremy bloom cant ski in the olympics and play football and mike williams cant get an agent and come back and play. that makes no sense to me at all.

no one is saying we run a clean program, but with the exeption of pegram, who was running a block away from northgate to his dorm to avoid an m.i.p., every player that has committed a major offense(read:weed dealing, asking people for a "hand" ) has been kicked off.
but i guess compared to stoops, who reinstated a player after he got drunk and sent his friend to the hospital, mack does run a clean program.

Huh? Jared Morris and Hangartner had DWI's and they did not get kicked off the team. I don't think they should have been kicked off the team either.

Most of the players that have been kicked off at A&M were kicked off because it was not their first incident. Ask any Aggie with a premium subscription and they can confirm that.

You think Jorrie was not allowed to practice this spring because the coaches did not think he could contribute?

Tate Pittman was kicked off the second time he asked a girl if she could help him, not the first.

You think Randall Webb was a first-time offender?

You think Erik Mayes was?

Mack has kicked players off (Kwame, Aaron Humphrey, Robert Timmons, Erik Hardeman). He also did not take Chris Collins because of his legal issues, even though Chris was a top-50 national recruit and had resolved his issues to the point Okie Lite could sign him (they did this week).

I don't think either program is perfect, but players don't get kicked off unless they do something really, really bad or they repeatedly mess up (unless they aren't that good like the Aggie player who was a 4th string receiver who was kicked off for hitting his roommate with a guitar--freed up a scholarship).

Nguyn,

VY has nothing to do with my post, which was simply to state that both teams have players that are drafted out of high school. Also, I'm a Texas fan, not an Aggie. Don't be so blinded by hatred that you lash out with reflection.
