So, we are supposed to feel guilty in the western countries that Africa is real poor. Since 1980 we've given African nations the equivalent of 20 Marshall Plans and it's done no good. All the money ends up in the hands of the corrupt elites who run the countries. What good is forgiving debt or giving more money going to do? After WWII it only took 1 Marshall Plan and Europe was rebuilt. Its a bunch of crap for "celebrities" and "stars" to get up and hee haw about how it's all America's fault.

Bottom line is that if every American gave $50/month for African aid it wouldn't do a damn bit of good. The problem is with the leadership in those countries.

We should not be providing them with money at all, and probably not food; we should provide them with birth control and education, and let them take the responsibility for the remainder of their own destiny.

I know they suffered many blows, but they didn't have to start from scratch like Africa would. Europe had something to build from while Africa is still stuck in the stone age. Its not like they need roads or buildings to become a superpower...those people need some rice and bread just to survive.

I didn't think they were really raising money, just 'awareness'. If that was the case, blatant self-promotion.

I don't know about all this Africa garbage. I do know however that I sleep much better at night knowing that the prisoners at Gitmo are being treated with dignity and respect. Way to go America.
