Stellar talent, slightly better than average results

I guess slightly better than avg. = something A&M has not seen in half a century?

I guess we'll take it over average talent and piss poor results. But hey, if you think he's worth being one of the highest paid coaches in the country, keep him.

Mike Jones - since you gamble alot:

Has A&M covered the spread on even one T+1 in the last 5 years?

I believe this will be the season where Fran proves (to aggies, its already painfully obvious to the rest of the world) that he's a worse recruiter than Bob Stoops and crappier game day coach than Mack Brown.

tmr not 100% sure but I do not beleive A&M has coverd since the Bonfire Game in '99. Last year tu won by 13 and I think the line was like 11 or so. But I do not bet on the Aggies as I would not be able to enjoy the game. Also the A&M game has not been a big game in a long time. I mean either A&M is ranked high (80s and 90s) and not tu is ranked high (last couple of years). But when A&M becomes a top 15 team like this year it is over for Mack Brown and the sips. Like I said mack Brown = easy money. Bet the house this year on the Ags.

Now that is a Mike Jones Guarantee. Feel free to call me if I am wrong at 281-330-8004.

The only chance you could have covered then was 2001, unless we were favored by 14+ at Pyle that year, which I seriously doubt.

Yep, T+1 sounds like easy money indeed!

Yeah - well that is nothing compared to the change I picked up on Fran. 1-11 against the spread in his first year. I absolutely cleaned up on this overrated coach.

I guess, since MB is 2-0 against the spread on FRAN, that FRAN is lumped in with the other crappy teams you mentioned?

Texas just finished what would have been the second best season in Aggie history, yet at Texas it's "slightly better than average"?

That really tells you the difference in the programs.

2nd best season ever? You didnt win the conference last year.

Weve won more than one conference championship, BIX XII and several SWCs.

You guys are defending Mack Brown like you hired him. Your hippie lettuce institute hired him, WE DON"T BLAME YOU!

Take a step back, relax and count your conference championships. Heck count your conference title appearances.

Now put that one finger in the air and think Coach Fran - the #1 coach in the conference. He can smile and pose with Mack all day - cause he knows the future. . . .

3 consecutive conference titles
8 consecutive wins against rival texas
28 consecutive home wins
2 national titles

all within the next 10 years.

Believe It Jack!

What a dumb response. I guess the Texas team in 1994 then was better than last year's Texas team? I guess Nebraska baseball should be happier this year than the Texas baseball team.

You're stuck on conference titles because that's all you can point to.

JTaylor asks an interesting question. I would like to see if anybody can find a more lopsided in-state rivalry than the Longhorns & the Aggies.

I suspect just a bunch of name calling with little attempt to find at least one rivalry.

One of the funnier threads I've read in a long time.

quote:

Gee. I wonder why that is?

If you really want to know the "secret" to betting a Mack Brown coached team, here it is: Bet against Texas on the 2nd half line when they are playing REALLY crappy teams. They NEVER, NEVER, NEVER cover.

Example 1: In 2003, Texas was playing Rice in Houston. The line was something like 31. In the first half, Texas plays the starters and CRUSHES Rice. The score was Texas 41, Rice 0 at halftime. The 2nd half line comes in at 17 pts. Texas then plays the starters for 1 possession, the 2nd string for 2-3 possessions, and then the scrubs (walkons and 4th string players) for half the 3rd quarter and the entire 4th quarter. Final score: Texas 48, Rice 7. Easy money.

Example 2: Texas again playing rice with the line of 30+. Texas jumps out to a 28-6 halftime lead. The line again comes in at Texas -16 or so. Texas pulls all the starters. Final Score: Texas 35, Rice 13.

Texas NEVER runs it up on the weak teams in the 2nd half. Easiest money in all of college football.

IM I would call are 2003 team crappy, in 2004 I would say are team was a little better than average, 2005 and beyond are team will be no worse than top 15 every year Fran is here. Then we will be a big game and Mack Brown will fold like I fold when I have 2,7 offsuit in Hold’em. Hey Mack Brown has owned us the last 5 years no comeback for that and my hat is off to you t-sips. But come on #1 recruiting class after #1 recruiting class and ZERO conference championships and one Rose Bowl win that you barley won. But hey scoreboard is scoreboard. I am just saying you guys had your chance to dominate and Mack Brown pissed it away because he is a horrible game day coach.

Believe it sips you had your time now it is A&M’s time and Coach Fran will win his championships because he is not scared of Stoops, Mack, Leech, or Barnett. And no Baylor comments because that was a once in a 20 year thing. I will take one loss every 20 years to Baylor.

Highest A&M has been ranked when facing UT in the Brown era was #6 and UT won.

"2nd best season ever? You didnt win the conference last year.

Classic! Would Texas trade the 1995, 1995 or 1996 season for 2004? No. Would Texas trade their 2004 baseball season for the 2005 baseball season? No. Would I trade Rick Barnes' first season, when he won the conference and then lost in the first round, for 2003, when he went to the Final Four after finishing 2nd in the conference? Absolutely not.

Way to go. In 1998, A&M won the conference championship. Would I trade the 1998 A&M season, with three losses and a ranking outside the top ten, for the 2004 Texas season? Not even close.

I know you've experienced limited national success across all sports so you don't really know the difference. A conference title is nice. But it's regional. I would take 2004 Texas football over 1996 Texas football every day of the week.

Yes, last year's Texas squad had what would have been the second best season in Aggie history. But that's okay because the Texas baseball team has had what would have been the best season in Aggie baseball history four years running. And the Texas basketball team has done that, too.

Seriously, is there a more lopsided rivalry in college sports? Will someone at least try to answer?

Now that's funny. A&M has gone undefeated at least 4 different times so this post is false. We've also finished 12-1 - showing, yet again, how dumb your are.

To say last year was average is ignorant. If it were commonplace, the sip dipshlts would be acting as if they've been there before.

The reality is you finished second in the Big 12 South and beat a second-rate UM team that couldn't even manage a win over ND and got blown out by Ohio State.

Can someone please answer this question? You can count just the three main sports, if that makes things easier for you.

I'd say maybe LSU and Tulane, but Tulane has actually finished in the top 5 in the last 50 years, plus they don't play each other that often.

0U/OSU football is even more lopsided, but OSU owns or is arguably 0U's equal in all the other major sports.

In overall major college athletics, UT/A&M is easily the most lopsided "arch rivalry" in history.
