I am anti-tattoo. I also hate belly button piercings. The belly button is, in my opinion, one of the sexiest features of a female's body. Don't screw with it by attaching foreign objects.

I think tattoos are a pretty interesting means of self-expression. Fake boobs, on the other hand, are a total turn-off for me.

Stretch marks or no, even if a woman gets back into the exact shape she was in before having a child the stretched skin doesn't go back to exact same spot. So some 'sexy' little image becomes a nasty discolored blob. But if you find that sexy more power to ya...

They tell everybody who didn't already know it that you're STUPID.

Yesterday at my health club's pool there was a really nice looking young woman, maybe 25 or so. Then she turned around and on her back adjacent to her right shoulder was a non-descript circular, blue tattoo about the same diameter as a grapefruit. YUCK ...

It made me sort of cringe for her.

Why she, or any other young woman, would PERMANENTLY disfigure her otherwise very attactive body like that is just flat impossible to understand.

It's kinda like teen age pregnacy. Girls get pregnant because they're too stupid to realize the PERMANENT change a few minutes of fun will make for the rest of their lives.

Women who get tattoos because they think it's "kewl" don't have a clue that most of the rest of society doesn't see them that way.

What they're doing to themselves as they're just becoming adults will have them asking 5-10 years later, "Why in the name of God did I do THAT?"

I spent a career as a naval officer. In that time, I never knew of a sailor who got a tattoo while he was sober. Many of 'em told me that they wished they'd never done it and could get rid of it. Maybe the current generation is different, but I doubt it.

I don't have much truck with piercings, either, but at least they can be removed. Tattoos are the gift that keeps on giving ... just like Herpes II, malaria and tertiary syphillis.

Who determines what "society" sees as "kewl"? You?

And while I can't speak for what the young lady you saw would say, why do you think that I would care what you (or society) thinks about me having a tattoo?

And why do you think this "otherwise attractive young woman" cares what you think of her?

My tattoo has a deep spiritual meaning to me. I got it stone-cold sober. I took 2 months to get the design to my liking, and another month to decide that I really wanted to do it, after contemplating it for more than a year. I'm 39 years old. Do you suppose I care what others think of me or my decisions?

Perhaps you've learned much wisdom in your experiences. Perhaps you've seen some tattoos that were mistakes... there are many. And perhaps you should consider learning tolerance for others that may not see the world the same stark black-and-white way that you do.

If you are so intelligent why did it take you 13 months to figure out if you wanted the tattoo?

Instead of mulling over the tattoo you could have got an associates degree. In the future get the design on a piece of paper and tape it to yourself then see if you like it. This can also be useful to determine a location for the tattoo.

Unblemished skin is SO much sexier than a tattoo.

It's unfortunate that the lower back tattoo is getting to be as common as the obligatory belly button ring, though rings don't bother me nearly as much.

Tattoos may look stupid on a chick, but the important thing is that it all feels the same in the dark, under the sheets.
