Okay, we've finally picked a date - Saturday June 4th beginning about 3:00 in League City (half way between Houston and Galveston).
Background: I started a thread about six weeks ago to see if there was interest in a Texags/Rivalries get together. I was pretty surprised at the response. Had about 30 posters say they would come. The majority of which were Legends or Hall of Fame posters (that surprised me). There were also a startling number who were willing to come from Dallas or San Antonio etc. That kind of puts pressure on me to make sure it is a good event. Of course, now that I have picked a date I'm sure that will knock quite a few out. Anyway, here is what I will provide for this bash:
I'll open up my house and reserve the lake for water activities. It is a private lake with only six owners but we'll have it to ourselves for the party. I'll provide the ski boat and necessary equipment. I will need some volunteers to drive. In the last thread there were several volunteers. I must warn you though it is a tournament inboard ski boat. It is nothing like driving an outboard or I/O. (The high speed handling is easy; it is the slow stuff and backing that is a fine art)
I'll provide the BBQ. Probably brisket, chicken, and sausage along with fixn's. DayAg was very interested in helping. If the date works DayAg, let me know.
I'll provide the beer (at least a two or three brands) and soft drinks.
I've got a basketball goal with the key and 3 point stripe. Unless you've got a favorite ball no need to bring anything but your game.
There is fresh water fishing in the lake. Chile Pequin was very interested in setting up a fishing competition. Does that weekend work Chile? (It isn't Memorial Weekend) I'll provide the lake, but BYOPole and tackle.
Col Nathan Jessup and others were very interested in poker. I can provide a cheap card table or two but I'll need someone else to provide everything else (not a poker player).
There is a nice golf course right down the street (Magnolia Creek). There can be a pre-party golf outing. LonghornDub said he would help organize that if he was free that day.
Right now my ping pong table is a disgrace. Hopefully, by that time I will have bought a new one or a pool table (or a combo set) for the game room.
Of course, the key to success is the people that show up. As I said I was pleasantly surprised at the interest expressed earlier. However, I also have a fear that nobody shows but some poor guy who came from Dallas dragging a reluctant girlfriend. They get here and think "we came all this way for this." Therfore, RSVP's have to be public and made on this thread. That way, in theory at least, everyone knows who is coming and if a bunch bail at the last minute you'll know who it was and it won't be my fault.
Anyway, if you are interested, first post here that you are coming. It is okay to say something like "60% chance I can make it but depends on kid's soccer tournament." Just try to be honest in your assessment. If it is unlikely (but still possible) go ahead and state that. Also update your RSVP on this thread and state it as an update so I am not double counting "Previously said was 90% sure but now looks more like only 20% chance I can make it." I've given a lot of parties and found those types of RSVP's are a lot more accurate in the aggregate than the usual yes/no choice.
Second, post whether bringing spouse, significant other, life partner

etc. In the previous thread that was a common concern - spouses wouldn't come unless they knew other spouses were coming. Children are welcome. I've got a Rainbow playground set and lot of other kid stuff. However, you'll have to watch them around the water and you have to figure the type of people you are exposing them to.

I've got a three and six year old. Since I am hosting I'll probably have them with a sitter but the sitter may be at the house or next door.
Third, e-mail me for directions and other info. I promise I will never release your e-mail address or your identity. I will only use it to send you the info for this event. My e-mail address is fblack@greerherz.com If you haven't gotten a response within two business days then it means I probably didn't get it.
Lastly, saying yes last time doesn't count. You have to say it on this thread. Also, for those many who graciously volunteered to help in a particular area no need to apologize if you can't make this date.
I'll go first. 100% chance for me and 99% for Mrs. Skihorn.
