Somewhere in between a recent four-day trip to New York, a week in San Antonio and playing out his senior basketball season East St. John quarterback Ryan Perrilloux will squeeze in official recruiting visits during the final two weekends of January.
It just won't be to LSU as planned.

East St. John coach Larry Dauterive said Monday that Perrilloux, regarded as the nation's top quarterback who remains committed to Texas, has scheduled his final two weekend visits to Florida State and Miami because of the state flux regarding LSU coach Nick Saban.

the tradition of Chris "The List" Simms, Roy Williams, and Plasma Hunter Benson.

When Ciron Black committed to LSU in August, most recruiting fans assumed he was completely off the board. The Tyler Lee prospect never once wavered on his pledge, and all indications had him signed, sealed and delivered to play his college ball in Baton Rouge. But recently, things have changed.
he has gone from "all LSU" to "soft" verbal to LSU on Rivals . UT has a good chance to get his commit on his UT visit.

Too bad ya'll are all full of three stars and have no room for the LSU /Saban fall out players.

Nothing is too valid about the star system. That's my point. The stars are there to make fans feel good, and give fans a reason to spend money on recruiting services. The stars are a nice measuring stick for those of us who don't get to watch hours and hours of game film, but it always cracks me up when somebody acts like their commit just got "better" because Rivals put another star next to his name.

PB, well there's something to the ranking system, at least to the Ags I've talked to. Apparently the only reason UT has had success the past few years is because we've recruited talent since our coaches are one step above sea sloths. Our recruiting success has been proved out by the recruiting stars. No?

Or does UT actually develop the talent we get? Which is it?

So what, he's going to beat A&M at least 3 of his 4 years? I can live with that. Hopefully he can work on the OU game a little though.

You're right. At least he can look forward to 4 years of beating the lesser teams of the conference: Baylor and A&M.

Ciron Black is just one of the LSU players we are interested in. Several have said that a coaching change would affect their decision. But keep thinking small Mock 1. That's why you're 35 wins behind us head to head. What are you guys sitting on now ...12 three stars and no room for big guns that change their mind ala Simms at the last minute.

Scholz - I've heard you sips pull out that old argument before. "Either recruiting rankings matter, or Mack is a great coach...Which is it?"

Yes, Mack has recruited very well at t.u. He had some classes that were absolutley loaded. Rivals would have to be blind not to rank those classes so high. That doesn't make Rivals always right, just because they pointed out the obvious.

All I'm saying is that you need to take any star rating with a grain of salt. If a guy is unrated, or 2-star, or whatever, but you see coaches from big time schools all over him, that might tell you that Rivals hasn't done its due diligence on that player, and he really is a 4 star caliber player. I can promise you that Coach Fran and staff, or any other college staff, is way ahead of Rivals when it comes to identifying talent.

I guarantee you that coaching staffs use these same recruiting services to help identify talent.

Is that the same as RC gets sleepers and turns them into champs argument? I think the difference makers are pretty evident to everyone. To me, there's a world of difference between the 4 and 5 star guys and everyone else.

I think Black is actually probably better than a 3 star talent. Texas did not pursue because of his grades and Rivals possibly lowered his ranking because of the qualifying list. Evidently he has gotten his grades in better shape so we offered after losing Youngblood.

5-Star DT Prospect, Callahan Bright is now down to A&M and FSU. He is torn between the two and could come down to signing day for his decision.

A&M is also still in on 4-star recruits Felix Jones, RB-OK; Nic Harris, S-LA; Vince Oghobaase, DT-TX.

That's one 5-star and three 4-star recruits that have the Ags HIGH on their list. The Ags may or may not sign any of these but are definitely in better shape at 4-star recruits (you won't catch the Ags) and could land as many 5-star commits as tu. Maybe more if Bright commits and Perrilloux opts for LSU, Miami or FSU.

I think the Ags will take their class over the sips' at this point. Good luck on trying to break into the top 10. Currently the Ags are in the top 3 with a chance to maintain or move up in the rankings.

RC specials, or sleepers, or whatever you want to call them, were the result of a flawed recruiting strategy. We were going all or nothing after the top guys, and weren't paying attention to the next tier of guys. So, once we whiffed on the top guys, we were left scrambling. Coach Fran, it seems, doesn't miss anything, and if you're talented he's gonna find you.

As for the difference between 4/5 star guys and the rest, I disagree. True, the 5 star guys have the best shot at being studs and all-Americans and so on. But 3 and 4 star guys really aren't that far apart.

No one listens to you T-bird so don't worry. Be far more concerned with that 3.00 average you guys are hovering at, it's the main reason Mack owns you still. Misunderstanding quantity vrs quality seems to be a difficult concept for aggies to grasp!
