Colorado, Mizzou, Nebraska, and A&M suffered a severe drop off after leaving THE TWELVE. Give Colorado credit for realizing their grave error and rejoining the fold.

Will the Horns and Sooners avoid the curse?

Stay tuned…

I should add that I believe both the Horns and Sooners will be strong the first couple of seasons of athletic competition, but don't be fooled. That Twelve-Toughness will wear off by the third season.

Well don't you worry because nobody in the Power 2 wants Tech as a member so you get to stay there and bide your time until the L12 becomes so weak even Tech can win it sometimes!

Mizzou went on to play for SEC football championship for like 2yrs immediately after leaving the big 12. A&M had a Heisman and some of the best years in football. Definitely no drop offs for A&M or Mizzou.

Sure, there was some toughness left from their time in THE TWELVE that served them well the first couple of seasons. I probably surprised some folks when I predicted the Aggies would fare very well their first couple of seasons in the SEC. I expect the same from Oklahoma and Texas. Then there's a HUGE drop off and the teams basically become irrelevant.

your sos is pitiful. You could win all those games by 30 (you won't) and still not be ranked. Hang your head in shame.

Ags had 2 top 5 finishes including getting hosed by the committee to get in the playoffs. We can be better but nothing about the program "dropped off".

After the Aggies left the BigXII after a disastrous 7-6 season in 2011, the TWELVE TOUGHNESS led them to a "miraculous" 11-2 SEC record in 2012 (but no one can say the SEC was obviously overrated). That was followed by a 9-4 record in 2013. Then three consecutive 8-5 seasons, then 7-6 in 2017. 2018 was a bit better year, 9-4, but then 8-5 in 2019. 2020, of course, doesn't reflect much due to the pandemic, but in return to play the 2021 team ended up 8-4. 2022 was the brutal 5-7 season followed by the Aggies "improving" to 7-6 in 2023.

It's fine if you don't agree, but those season records tend to suggest a severe "drop off."

Agree about the strength of schedule. Spike Dykes was of the opinion to have a tough non-conference schedule to help you get ready for conference, scheduling the likes of Ohio State, Tennessee, and Miami, among others. Mike Leach held the other viewpoint, scheduling weaker non-conference opponents. I tend to trend in the middle, maybe scheduling one "Ohio State" and two "Abilene Christians."

a severe drop off is when after hosting north texas state university, you open "the 12" season with loser (3-7) maricopa state limping into lubbock. zero toughness

and here you are wrapped in the threadbare tattered shawl of a once great corporation, pointing your withered bony finger at big healthy programs who own you and left you behind, and you're squeaking, "drop off"

Aggies and Horns are like the kids who got Porsches and BMWs in high school and think they are better than everyone else. While they are driving their cars around the local Sonic, Red Raiders are driving their beat up, twenty-year-old pick-up trucks to a keg party in the middle of nowhere, chatting up the girls while watching the stars twinkle in a brilliant night sky unfiltered by city lights.

I ask you politely to not denigrate our future conference colleagues. While tu certainly was privileged to dig into the oil land wealth of west Texas through the PUF, the actual denizens of west Texas (like me) were unable to tap in to the tu wealth. I mean, what is Austin but a transition zone between the south and the west? We are actually "west". Let's be honest, Velvet: when I attended DPS traffic investigation courses there on North Lamar, we used to calculate the coefficient of friction on road surfaces, the "Drag Factor". I always responded the highest Drag Factor in the state was probably on Guadalupe Street adjacent to tu. Austin State Hospital = UT-Austin North Campus.
So whatever pathologies exist in Lubbock, they are dwarfed by the sick socialists in Austin. Heck, Austin is so sick that Kinky Friedman is now considered a law and order conservative.

You remind me of everybody that I know from Midland that tries to hype it up as an awesome place to live. It's like if you tell the lie over and over it will become truth. I can't stand the city of Austin but calling the edge of the hill country merely a "transition zone between the south and the west"? Yeah, you're a whole different level of delusional.

UHpgrade hosts UNLV first game of the year in what National pundits are calling "The Battle of Hotel and Restaurant Supremacy!" We already know that UHpgrade owns Vegas in other areas but time to own them in football

UHpgrade then travels to OU to help boost their ticket sales and strengthen their soft schedule.

3 months away till kickoff…

The game against Wazzou State was a last second replacement for the Oregon game. Tech was supposed to play them up there this year but due to their new Big Ten scheduling, the series was cancelled.
