These polls are so stupid.

Look, if you want to be a petroleum engineer, there's 6 maybe 7 places you go to that everybody respects. 2 in Texas, 2 in Oklahoma, 1 in Louisiana, 1 in Colorado-

Same thing with most other fields. No ONE institution has the best "everything" with regard to a degree.

Agribusiness-- same thing. You guys, Iowa st, Purdue etc.

It would be better to rank disciplines inside schools instead of the schools as a whole.

Unfortunately, all the liberal art schools are cranking out "social workers" demanding 6 figs a year and 4 weeks paid vacay out of school.

A&M was 48 before Bob Gates got stupid with Vision 2020.

How is it even possible to compare colleges that offer completely disparate curriculums? "Best" is totally dependent on what you wish to study, as stated above. The best school for someone wishing to major in jazz music theory is likely not gonna be the best school for someone planning to major in aeronautical engineering. You wouldn't go to a fashion boutique to buy a socket wrench set.

UTD is better than SMU, TCU and Baylor for the stuff that really matters like engineering.

UTD is where you go if you want to rub elbows with smart kids.
Those other schools are where you go to rub elbows with rich kids.

At least call out the right pinhead. Gates didn't initiate Vision 2020, that was his predecessor. Name escapes me but it was the same guy that put a halt to athletic facilities spending at the same time tu was funding everything under the sun.

This is key. The feckless Biden administration has us paying the student debt for all those "highly ranked" liberal arts grads now working at McDonalds.

Great post.
I say we get rid of all the liberal arts and have college just be trade school.

I knew a girl that graduated from Vandy with a librul arts degree. She's now working at Burger King taking up all of my tax dollars.

The last time I saw her I laughed and sneered at her for her poor choices in picking a major.

Pretty sure I saw 2 or 3 of 'em at batch kolaches this morning hawking lattes and, admittedly, some good beer.

They do rank the individual schools and programs.

A&M has the #2 petroleum engineering program in the country, #1 in the state.

Tech needs to learn from UH and Us….don't let in the freshman schlubs, let the xfers in via team blinn etc or through UHs awful satellite campuses…UH accepts something like 93% of transfer students which is nuts but USN doesn't look at that stat so UH can seem "selective" when it's not.

Then start another thread about that game. This one is about academics, and it didn't take a news source to let us know which school is dog**** compared to the others.
