But notice the schools listed with better odds...

"40-1....ehhhhhh I wouldn't label us as a contender with those odds. Sheepville at 30-1 is funny though. I guess when your schedule is a joke outside of 3 games you get great odds. Since theyre SEC they can lose one or two of those games and still get a CFP bid"

A sip talking schedule smack. The lack of self awareness in hilarious.

What about if its a joke outside of the 1 OOC game you scheduled with the SEC? Does that explain the 40 vs. 30?

What's sad is, their whole conference schedule outside of OU is a joke. They really don't have a clue what the rest of the country thinks of them and the BDF.

I would really have liked to see t.u. play our schedule that we did last season and compare W/L.

But then, when you need "help" to squeak by Kansas, that says a lot.

I'll have you know sir that they went 5-4 in conference play this year. The Flagship program of the state, led by a future hall of fame coach and sure-thing 2020 Heisman trophy winner, wouldn't go 5-4 unless they were playing in the toughest conference in the history of college football.

True. But this year they have to play Kansas AT KANSAS.

After the 2018 Sugar Bowl victory, Sam Ehlinger muttered the words "Longhorn Nation, weeeeeeeeee're back!" which of course has been plastered all over freezing cold takes. Following that up, everyone knows we had a disappointing 8-5 2019 campaign albeit a strong finish.

But 2020 was always considered the year. Last season, we were way too young on defense with a slew of injuries. Our OC was a glorified QB coach/ace recruiter that shouldn't be anywhere near the playcalling process and our DC got figured out and doubled down instead of adapting...

I think Yurcich is the perfect guy for Herman. At Houston, he had Major to run his offense. Mike Yurcich is a better version of him, in my opinion. He's a guy that will run what Herman wants and just add his own twist/creativity to it, and is known to be a very good playcaller. Herman will be able to get back to being a CEO to focus on the bigger picture and allow Mike to call his offense.

Chris Ash should succeed in 2020 at least with no film on the defense he'll run at Texas, and switch to a base defense that involved Ossai keeping his hand in the dirt/rushing the passer and maximize our strengths, as well as being a notable very good teacher of DBs. Him bringing Valai should help unleash that group as well.

2020 by almost everyone on the board was considered the season that we have a real chance at making the CFP. Ehlinger will be a senior, Cosmi is returning, and although we lose Duve and CJ, we'll have Jake Smith, J-Whitt, Brennan Eagles as explosive weapons to go along with Ingram, Johnson and a true freshman RB that's the best in the nation in Bijan Robinson with potential to be a big contributor early.

The defense will have a very good DL, Including Keondre Coburn, Sweat, Bimage, Jones, and true freshman that could rotate like Vernon Broughton and possibly Alfred Collins, to go along with an unleashed Ossai with all American potential. On the back end, we have literally so many players with elite potential. Caden Sterns, Overshown, Foster, Green, Cook and Jamison ALL have elite potential, and that's to say nothing of guys like Josh Thompson/Chris Brown or young guys like Adimora or Tyler Owens. LB is the only big question mark but I feel good especially if BJ or DMO get convinced to spin down.

I may just be drinking koolaid, but I think the offense with Senior Sam and all those playmakers at WR, hybrid in J-Whitt, and 3 very talented RBs to go along with a stud OC playcaller just screams elite potential on that side of the football. And the defense returns literally everyone important outside of Roach and Jones, to go along with a new DC to put our guys in a better scheme.

OSU with Wallace-Hubbard-Sanders will be tough and Spencer Rattler might be a real pain in our side, but Texas has the best roster by a long shot overall in the conference going into 2020. LSU is completely depleted(still talented though) but I think that barring catastrophic injuries that we will truly be able to make the CFP next season.

This could very well be the year that solidifies us as back. With the 2021 in-state crop being extremely talented, a great 2020 season could help us land players like the Brockermeyers, Byrd, Davis, Johnson/Wheaton, and Jackson/Burris.

At a place like UT, we just need to have that one amazing season. We've already been recruiting great under TH with the QB position stacked with talent. I think a 1-loss or undefeated season and a CFP appearance could definitely be the thing that completely gets the ball rolling. I don't know if we'll beat OSU or Clemson next year if we do make the CFP, but if we're able to perform like we are capable of with a senior Sam and a talent-laden roster with revamped and better coordinators, we can hit home runs in recruiting that'll set us up for the long term. We just have to get out of our own way and let the Longhorn machine be once again unleashed. HOOKEM

Every coach was a home run. Every player's potential is fulfilled. Every year.

30-1 is crazy, even against a soft schedule. IF they made the playoff, and assuming 50/50 in each game, that would be 1/4. Meaning that they would need to be 7.5-1 to make the playoff.

NO way they have a 13% chance of making the playoff. They have maybe a 1% chance of going undefeated. They have maybe a 5% chance to go 12-1 and make the playoff. Maybe.

Even if they did, no way they would have a 25% chance to win it. ou is 0-4 in playoff games and only 1 was competitive. That conference produces crap.

The real odds of them winning it all should be between 60 and 80-1. Seriously, that 30-1 would be worth shorting, especially if the deal required the house to pay out as soon as the sips lost game #2. I bet they dont pay out on those future bets until January so they can profit off the float.

This type of off-season lunacy is the norm for them. And then every year....it's the same underperforming "wish we were superior" season for whorn.

Let it play out like it always does.

The problem is that they still have to find a way to beat OU, twice. Then there is LSU at Death Valley and that annual showdown with that "powerhouse" Kansas.

"Spring practice is a time for experimentation and with Texas oozing talent and depth at safety, it's possible new defensive coordinator Chris Ash could look at moving bodies from the back end closer to the line of scrimmage to fill the void and make sure the Longhorns have their best 11 defenders on the field at all times."
Hahaha! Their most experienced ILB for Spring Practice has ONE tackle.

Don't you know Texas always plays to the level of its competition? That gauntlet of a schedule has no let up in it....they must stay focused every week.
