Actually, Frank Broyles moved Arkansas to the SEC when he recognized Texas was acting in its own best interests. AD Broyles was concerned that Texas was planning to leave the SWC. Frank talked with his best friend DKR, retired Texas AD/Football coach. DKR crypticly told Frank you have to do what was best for Arkansas. Frank talked to Deloss Dodds, he told Frank no, Texas was committed to the SWC. Then the story broke on Texas looking to leave the SWC to the SEC.

Frank never trusted Deloss or Texas again.

Frank moved Arkansas to the SEC when USCe joined.

Frank's mission was to screw Texas every chance he could. When Texas A&M expressed interest in actually moving to the SEC, Frank Broyles and Gene Stallings worked back channels within Birmingham and schools. Texas A&M BoR and Wilson were superb in keeping events quiet during negotiations.
They proved SEC worthy fom day one...

Texas was left at the station without a clue.

The rest is history.
