This is at least in part a product of the recruiting industry over ranking their recruits. In fact I'd argue that's the primary driver. Players that never should have been seen as sure fire NFL draft picks turn out to not be NFL draft picks and it makes tu look bad. Not sure we could script it any better.
I agree. For the sips I think this is more of a reflection of just how over-inflated the their recruited player's rankings are

It's pretty obvious. Every 3 star Longhorn recruit immediately jumps to a 5 star and plays like a normal 3
Star in college. This causing him to look undeveloped.
Vise Versa for the Ags, when their 4 and 5 star guys are rated as 3 star by ketch and co thus outperforming said rankings.

All hat and no cattle. They should just move the campus to Dallas, where looking good is valued higher than being good.
Overlay this list with data on which programs have kids bumped up the most after they commit and even sign.

These kids aren't ignorant. They see the facts. Unfortunately some of them are more willing to get sucked in by the Austin scene and Mensa's childish demeanor and gimmicks than they are to look at the big picture. Guess they're typical 18 year olds. Thinking short term.Tamu_mgm said:

I guarantee you every recruiter out there is tossing this stat out to anyone they want even considering tu. Could be something that really undercuts future recruiting efforts for them.

tu cares more about optics of recruit rankings than real progress of their players. We've known this for years.
As long as Horn fans pay good money for bad info from Ketch this trend will continue.

Yep. We just won 5 Super Bowls to look good. Too bad we couldn't be a city whose team moved to Tennessee because it couldn't sell tickets, or San Antonio with no team. We have a Stanley Cup championship yet Houston and SA can't get a team. Are you bragging about the Astros, who intentionally tanked for 10 or 15 years to build a World Series team, or the Rockets who only won because Jordan retired to baseball for a couple years?

I bet all the schools in that graphic are well represented in the "press" that does the rankings, too.
