Remember the story was that Chollie had recruited lots of talent (as evidenced by Rivals stars) but couldn't develop it? Now the spin is he couldn't keep it on campus and now they're young and untalented.

I am getting whiplash from all of the back and forth happening on the 40 acres. Coach February was losing talent? To whom? Mack basically had his pick of the litter in the state for a long time. If he lost a recruit it was because he didn't really want or need him.

That having been said, when Mack started fiddling with offensive schemes and hiring new OCs every other year, identifying and having the talent with the required skill sets to run those offenses became a problem for him, but it wasn't because he suddenly became a bad recruiter.

Yeah, and let's not forget how he was lauded for the culture change and running off the bad apples.

What a joke.

I thought the problem was Mack didn't develop talent. Again, look at the recruiting rankings. Chollie was supposed to be the developer of that raw talent. Not really sure what the narrative is now. Should probably just be that the texas university AD is a toxic place.

When speaking of Ketch, there is no limit to the times fat can be used.

Mack Brown's last 4 classes at sipville:

2010 - #2
2011 - #3
2012 - #2
2013 - #17 - This class had only 15 players in it. Would be top 5 had they signed 25 players.

Uh, want to try again, Ketch?

It is amazing that this clown can get someone to pay him to spew out these tired narratives over and over.

Orangebloods should be sponsored by Dramamine for all the motion sickness you get from the fricking spinning done on that website.

Probably the worst thing Mack ever did was fire Greg Davis. Funny, it was the thing sips wanted the most for Mack's entire tenure as coach.

Indeed, the only constant theme in all these narratives, as noted by Rivals writers, is that the recruiting classes, as ranked by Rivals writers, are always fantastic. Everything else has to be for around that.

It seems as if the Rivals writers have a blind spot.

Fat Ketch hemorrhages chicken wings and isn't able to stop. It's costly, especially to his wife.

The worst part about that quote is that it is complaining about the very thing they praised Charlie for at the time. It makes sense as well because it demonstrates their complete lack of self awareness and shame.

Exactly right. Charlie ran off his entire offensive line for some reason five minutes after arriving. Media told us it was due to off the field activities (weed) but it looks more like it was because they were Mack's players. Charlie allowed plenty of off the field issues for his recruits.

You are correct. It was very easy to see 3 years ago that Captain Core Value was making very questionable roster dumps. It was also almost as easy to see that these were maneuvers to create a narrative. And the saddest/funniest part was watching the fan base try to follow along and support it all. Their talking list was:
1. Mack left the cupboard bare and was too easy on the players
2. Charlie runs a tight ship. If that means he gets rid of half the scarce talent then so be it.
3. Charlie is an X's and O's guru. Just wait until he gets talent on campus.(nevermind that he was responsible for half of the void).

It was comical to watch and I hope they keep letting Ketch be their FRIED PIPER.

Of course they still won't admit they made a mistake in firing a coach who won the crystal football and was a runner up.

When you lose to Kansas the fan base will have to be appeased, so I understand why Charlie had to go. It is said that it takes three hires to replace a legend. It took Texas 4 hires before they replaced Darrell Royal. Serves them right if it takes 5 hires to replace Mack. With the quick trigger it just might happen.

If Ketch didn't exist, we would have to invent one to have someone to amuse ourselves with his ravings. How he gets anyone to pay anything for this drivel is the biggest mystery this side of the Kardashians.

it was time for Mack to hang it up and move on. But they totally mishandled the situation. Rather than honoring Mack for what he had done for them, they tossed him on his rear and used him as a scapegoat for all the problems Strong had.

Mack was obviously not ready to go, and from accounts he was told he would be staying. He would have passed DKRs win record the next year and they could have sent him off on a high note and turned him into some celebrated host of the LHN.

But no, they had to be all dilusional in thinking they could hire Saban away from Bama. Now they can't even hire a position coach from FSU that Bama has for the taking.

Go back a few more years. Mack hired Muschamp as HCIW. A seamless transition was in the works. Then, they lost to Alabama in the title game. That wasn't in the script. Mack changed his mind and balked at retiring. Dodds and Powers backed him. Muschamp sees the handwriting on the wall and splits.

Over the next few years, Dodds and Powers' support erodes as they battle to keep their jobs and Mack loses his protection. Dodds steps down in order to let Mack stay for awhile longer, but it's too little, too late. Powers doesn't have the BOR support to keep Mack on.

Oliver Luck interviews for the AD spot. His pitch to the hiring committee? He wants Mack fired before he gets there, beer sales at DKR and expansion of the Big XII at least back to 12, if not to 14 teams to keep the Big XII competitive. That was not what certain people (Dodds and Powers) wanted to hear and they manage to steer the hiring from Luck to the ever affable (if incompetent) Patterson.

Chaos ensues.
