I think the "What will happen to ou" question is especially pressing. I hate to say this, but I think ou is on course to ride out the conference instability through 2025.
They quit playing FCS opponents and now play at least one true challenge game a year. Their big problem, as Bonfire pointed out, is TV money. But keep winning, they should keep recruiting, in spite of a disadvantage in the arms race.
They have made up for losses in TX by recruiting CA, FL, NC, and the midwest. Per Rivals:
Year.........4/5*s from TX.....from other states
2017*...... 6................8
2016....... 2................9
2015........5................8
2014........1................8
2013........3................4
2012........2................9
I suspect they are paying the kids from the coasts. If so, this is the time to do it. The point though is that ou is not hurting for talent.
We need to further step up our building projects and spend them into oblivion- Reagan won the cold war with the same strategy.
We also need to jack with the true cost of attendance stipends. Currently, we pay around $3,500 a year. ou and the sips pay about a grand more. Bama pays over $5,300 a year. We should be paying the same amount. We need to run these turkeys into the ground.
