Leach isn't going to worry about it until the season is over. The offer hasn't been made yet, the administration has merely written up an offer, it's for $1 million a season with him getting in excess of a mill in his final year. I believe they're looking at around a 4-year deal, could be wrong on that though, we won't hear anything til the season ends though.

They've thrown in an extra case of JD but so far he's holding out for more.

Nothing new. Leach wants to focus on the season and not be bothered with it and the administration is honoring that. At the same time, the new deal is being worked out and should be ready to present to him. Any new deals will go thorugh Leaches agent.

Could be. Best way to keep the players in check and the recruits committed is to be very up front about your intentions. Putting the contract off may not do that.

Or it could mean nothing.

I don't know if he is bolting, but he it seems he is waiting to weigh his options. Holding out for options is a smart thing to do, that is unless tech goes in the tank for the rest of the season and the raider faithful want him out. For the record, I don't expect that to happen.

We've gotten some pretty nice commits (graham harrell last night).... I'm sure he will want to stay in the football building that he designed for at least a while. Unless Myers totally blows this, I think he will stay. Myers, FWIW, has publicly said that he wants leach as HC and likes the direction of the team.

sLeach's contract with Jack Daniels to endorse Old No. 7 has definitely been extended!

If he's truly concerned about the season and 100% committed to Tech, he would sign it. First, to remove the "distraction" if there truly is one to the players. Secondly, it is harder to recruit to a program with the coaching staff's future is unknown.

Correct grego....! Remember all the distraction at 'Bama because Fran wanted to wait until the season was over.... We know what happened there. I still say Leach goes to Arizona.

I think to some degree both sides are posturing. Tech has not made a formal offer since the off season, which was the offer that Leach did not want anyway. All Myers has said is that we are upping the contract from the original offer last spring to be in the 1-1.4 million range.

Do ya'll like jagermeister? I don't really care for it. Doesn't it have some weird ingredient in it that makes it really bad for you?

When Harrel Comitted it was mentioned that he asked Leach if he was going to be there for a while. Leachs reply was YES.

This is where the Bama idiots got hung up, also. You see, a coach isn't going to tell the recruits that he is leaving; that would be hitting the school below the belt. If Fran had done that, then Bama would have landed exactly zero recruits, and then Bama fans would have actually tried to murder Fran. The inbreds in tuscaloosa cannot seem to grasp this. What is the coach going to say? "Well, yes son, I am outta this craphole on the first flight, but I still want you to come here and play for whoever they get to take my place!"

DB, I'll agree with you. But these are two different situations. 'Bama had NCAA woes in front of them. Ours are way behind us. Leach is finally getting some pretty good players... Players he might want to stay and coach. Facilities are being completed-- the football building is something that he practically designed. Unless a school comes along with a really, really sweet deal, I think Leach will stay. I don't think 'zona is a really, really sweet deal when compared to Tech.

They've already stated they aren't going to pay their football coach more than $1.2-.5. Amd I have read that the AD at UF is pretty good buds with Zook, and this was before the LSU win. I think Zook is there for at least another year.

I think Leach will end up staying, but for discussion purposes:

Leach would fit in well in the Pac-10. His make-or-break offense is designed to get a defense down early, so that the other team is playing catch-up (and it is very hard to catch up to that offense). Pac-10 has always been offensive minded, so I think Leach would tear up those west-coast defenses.

Also, since the Pac-10 is so offensive-minded, the pressure would be off of him to recruit big-name defensive players. Not saying there haven't been some good defenses out there, but it is definitely not stressed as much.

Arizona might be having some down years right now, but I think they could put together some real cash if they find a coach they think can turn the ship around. (i.e. A&M)

Well any school is going to say they will pay much lower than they actually will so that they have some pull at the negotiating table. Whatever is said before negotiations start is almost irrelevant.
