Roys dilemma

Is there anyone who really thinks that Roy should have stayed for his senior year?

I think Roy should have left school last year. His reasoning was most likely that Charles Rogers from Michigan State, and Andre Johnson form Miami are both receivers that would be taken in front of him, putting him around #10 or higher in the draft. The difference between #10 and #3 in the draft is millions.

Given how this year is turning out, i.e. no QB that can effectively get the ball to Roy against a good defense(not NMSU, Rice, or Tulane), and givent the depth of talent available, do you think Roy will fare any better in the draft?

I think Roy was born with a hell of a lot of ability, and he will be playing on Sundays. If I'm a GM of an NFL franchise I look at the fact of Roy's apparent attitude (don't know how valid this is, just basing it on OU game), and the admitted fact that he is not really into working out/conditioning, and I might not want Roy on my team, especially when the following are available;
-Rashaun Woods - OSU
-Larry Fitzgerald - Pitt
-Princell Brockenbrough - Pitt (he is very underrated)
-other receivers at Oklahoma, Washington State, and numerous other schools.

Any differing schools of thought out there?

Fitzgerald will not be available. True Sophomore.

I believe that Fitz sat out a year between high school and college. The rule is 3 years removed from High school, not three years of college.

I don't know how Mark is able to talk these guys into giving up a year of pro $$$. Who would have guessed the number of injuries Texas has had or, how the offensive line has played or whatever has happened to Cedric. Now matter how good he is, one guy can't do it all. How many MNCs did Earl win? Can you blame Roy for being disappointed?

DANG, Brockenbrough sat out last season (he was a JC transfer). Larry Fitzgerald is a true sophomore. I hope he does well, he seems like a good kid (if you get a chance, ESPN the Mag had an article on him a couple weeks ago).

The only receivers at this point that I can see going in front of Roy this year are Reggie Williams and Woods. Fitz is a soph and even if the "skipped a year" part is true, he'll stay. Mike Williams is a soph; Lee Evans is short; Wilford has a shot as does Jenkins but I doubt it...Roy's "problems" will be overcome at the next level with the right coaching (which he'll never get at Texas).

As for his regrets: he only regrets getting beat by ou. He made a good decision insofar as his maturity level isn't ready for the pros (don't know that it will be at the end of this year either).

While Fitzgerald is only a sophmore, he went to a post-graduate prep school for a year before enrolling in college. So, while he is a true sophmore, his highschool class graduated three years ago this spring, thus making him elegible for the NFL draft. He is the best receiver in the land.
I agree that this year has been good for Roy in terms of maturation.

This man would beg to differ:

With Ricky, Mark had a little help from Tom Hicks and a bogus baseball contract. Not sure what kind of under the table deal got Roy to stay though.

Big 12-0 do you really think that welker will be drafted before the 5th round. None of your receivers would go before round 4. The system works but that dosn't translate to NFL. Just look how good Kliff Kingsburry is.

That's Nehemiah "Corey" Glover, not Wes.

You see, Glover is the best WR in the nation.

This just goes to show you that if enough morons repeat the same lie enough all the other morons will believe it. He didn't even go to the Rangers until after his senior year.

I do not know where any of you speak of Roy's maturity level. Are you pointing to the one instance in the game where he lost his cool about not getting the ball passed to him? Also where is it stated that his conditioning is not there? Unbelievable how you can derive his maturity from one play and his conditioning by just assuming he does not condition himself.

I know the rivalry between Texas and A&M goes deep, but this is just pure psychotic thoughts. I am certainly not stating that Roy Williams is the best college wide receiver this year, IMO it is Fitzgerald, but he is one of the best give him a break on that OU play.

We can make these statements when it comes straight from the horse's mouth. I remember seeing an ESPN interview with him where he said that he did not lift weights in the offseason up until this summer, because he wanted to get "serious" and wanted to excel at the next level. That statement is the unbelievable one. You're a college athlete for god sakes!

LMFAO!!!!!!!!! Come on man. Do you honestly believe Grover is better than Fitzgerald? Gimme a break. He can take short passes and make a couple guys miss, but Fitzgerald can catch the ball with 3 guys on him. You're delusional.

Glover (Jr)- 33 rec., 483 yds, 5 TDs
Fitzgerald (So)- 37 rec., 662 yds, 11 TDs

He's kickin your boy's butt right now, and the season is only half over.

*sigh*

I wish we could be obsessed over by students from a school filled with somewhat intelligent students. The stupidity and delusion of the various Tech alums/students, who post here, amazes me on a daily basis...

I haven't heard since the Red River Massacre, but I think Kiper still has Roy the number one prospect in the draft. Just because our system doesn't get him the ball enough doesn't mean the scouts don't see what happens when he does get it.

Might want to check your dates my friend. Ricky got a minor league contract w/ the Rangers ($1MM wasn't it?) before his last season at t.u. I remember it very well, as it was too obvious what was going on.
