I remember being in the car listening to the radio. At first it sounded like it was just a small prop plane. Waiting for details was like being in an emergency room. Everything shut down that day. Still very vivid.

I was headed to ENGR101. Walked past Pi R Square and saw a mass of people staring at tiny TV screen inside. Surreal.

The whole week was surreal. That day after coming home that morning, we noticed our newborn had yellowish tears and took him to the hospital where he spent the next 3 days getting treated for jaundice. Probably helped in a way to take our mind off the attack and focus on our son. The weirdest was looking in the sky for a couple of weeks and seeing no planes flying.

We had just gotten back from drill practice, working on the next halftime.
Got to the dorms and were told to head to an upperclassman's room (I was a soph).
My roommate and I walked in M. Smith '02s room just in time to see the 2nd plane hit.
In a dorm half-full of military contract people (including me at the time), it was a very surreal morning.

After the 2nd Tower was hit, watched it live on TV, I drove to work for my 2nd week at a new job. Road went down a hill and you could see all of San Diego Bay....and the entire fleet on alert and hauling ass out to sea. Flights had been grounded and only F-18's were flying above North Island and the Naval Base. That is a surreal sight, every ship able to get underway was and they were Moving.

Sitting in some freshman intro class...don't even remember which one any more. Prof was late, everyone was wondering what was going on. Someone wandered in and said there had been an airplane accident in NYC.

Prof came in and turned on CNN, explained what had happened. We were all in shock.

We just watched the images over and over until the 1st tower collapsed.

She had no idea what to say or do so she just dismissed us.

Really and truly surreal moment

Dumbass fish walking through the pavilion. Two people holding hands falling caught my eye on the tv next to the snack bar on your right when you walked in. After grasping what was happening I knew what I wanted to do with my life.

Never forget.

Freshman year, was waiting in my car on my carpool buddy after our 7am class. I had been in NYC two weeks before and have a pic of the two towers from the Empire State building. Hard to believe it has been that long.

I was in 6th Grade getting ready to walk to school. Saw my mother glued to the TV set, which was weird because she'd usually left for work by then. I knew something was wrong but didn't know the enormity of the situation until she sat me down and explained what happened.

At the rec for handball class listening to it over the speakers instead of the normal music. Went back to the dorm and didn't leave my room, watching news coverage.

The eerie part was the days afterward with no planes overhead (I live not too far from DFW and they come over my house on a regular basis, plus at that time I worked near DFW).

Had to drive back from Atlanta that week in my rental car. Listened to talk radio the entire trip

During the drive they mentioned the possibility of them using AG plans with chemicals and all planes were grounded.

As I crossed thru MS into Louisiana there were thee crop dusters flying over I20 - guess they didnt get the message. Then as I rolled past Barksdale AFB B-52's were stacked up and taking off. I thought we were going to war that day

Third year of law school. I was awoken by the sound of the phone ringing. It was my mother, and all she could say was "turn on the TV." I did, just in time to see the second plane hit the twin towers. In the haze of that moment, the only reaction I could muster was "WHAT THE F***!"

14 years later, it never gets easier. I've learned to leave my house before the news coverage starts, or it would ruin my day. The rage I felt that morning never really went away. I just wish the same were true for the folks in Washington. I don't feel safer today than I did 14 years ago, just more pissed off and alert. The politicians are all - every single one of them - traitors to the memory of this day.

My heart goes out to the loved ones of the victims, and to every soldier, sailor, airman and Marine that has served our country, and the families they left behind to do so. God bless the United States of America.

Woke up to the news of the first hit and watched the second hit live on TV. Didn't go to classes that day, just watched the news the whole day. Most surreal day of my life.

I was doing some work at a gasoline terminal not far from DFW. I remember looking up and seeing all the planes circling waiting to land, and shortly after no planes whatsoever. Didn't know at that time what had happened. It was one of the weirdest things I've seen. One of the techs there at the site came out shortly after that. Weird went to surreal.

I hopped out of the shower and was watching Good Morning America when the second plane hit. I thought it was a replay. Unreal.

Went to high school listening to the news on the radio. First period, Texas history with Coach Poole. RRISD issued a memo telling all teachers to turn off the news and go about business as usual.

Coach Poole refused. He said "this will likely be the most important thing to happen to your generation. I want you all to see it." Both towers collapsed shortly after. He let whoever wanted to leave go home no questions asked.

fwiw, the North tower was hit first. It was the beginning to a bizarre, sad, life-changing day though, that is for sure.

This is right outside my office door. From floors 100-103 of the North Tower.
I can't say that it's moving every single time I see it, but there are moments. And the reality is never forgotten.

it's hard to even type this, but we can't ever forget the sight of our fellow helpless Americans who had to choose to leap to their death vs. deal with the pain they were experiencing from the smoke and flames. it's why i would punch any politician in the face if they were to tell me in person that they have got a good handle on Islamic terrorism.

Same thing was told by Tomball ISD admins. Our world history teach, Ms. Roach, refused to turn off the news and said the exact same thing as we sat in silence watching the events unfold. Our school was placed on lock down and nobody could come or go until 2:30p. Walking into JROTC was a little different that day.
