There are inherent conflicts between bulls and bears.

You should never eat a baylor bear if he came from across the state line!

quote:
WILD GAME, NO BEAR

At the table in Cain Hall at lunch Tuesday, in keeping with a tradition during the week of the Baylor football game, the buffet line featured baked quail wrapped in bacon, venison fixed two ways, fried gator bits, and boar. An unusual side dish was Texas toothpicks -- fried zucchini and jalapenos.

Noticeably missing the last two years for this Baylor-week menu was bear. Patti Allison, supervisor of the Cain dining hall, said that laws changed and the bear meat could no longer be transported across state lines. "We switched to boar last year because we were told it tastes most like bear," she said.

During Oklahoma State week, the athletes will find a cowboy-western theme menu, and during Texas week one course will feature Bevo Stew.

Dr. John Thornton, senior associate athletic director for student-athlete activities, found Tuesday's selections to be symbolic. "Wild game," he said, "and no bears."
