Season tickets for tu starting at $199 for the 2015 football season. They are available for purchase at the orange/white scrimmage today. Wonder if that includes popcorn and a drink for the clown show?
Just shocking that Texas would use a marketing strategy to put a limited number of the worst seats for sale at a discount to entice new fans to watch a game.

I wonder if A&M does the same thing?

No need to, we are sold out. My 5 po man seats cost almost 5 bills each and there was a rush 1+ years ago to get those.
You seem very sure of yourself.

Facts are such an inconvenience to sip
Yea, facts are a wonderful thing.

I'll ask again - I wonder if A&M does the same thing?
Since the stadium is already sold out for 2015, I'd say no.

StubHub is the preferred re-seller for tu athletics and StubHub has agreed to provide the info on those season ticket owners who sell some of their tickets. Those will be matched against Longhorn Foundation records for current donation levels. If they haven't given enough to "earn" the right to resell, they forfeit their seats.

My God. Remember how startling it was to see the GIANT proportion of Bellmont's budget earmarked for Admin/Support? Guess they found something for the deadbeats to do - hall monitors - instead of just ferrying the CoreVal gang away from crash sites and all.

Don't ever change, you wild/crazy bureaucrats!

To provide a few more facts to our confused sip shirt friend...

Season ticket ordering deadline was months ago, yet we haven't heard about a significant drop rate. But just in case, there is a wait list of people who didn't get in on the process in 2013.

Final payments on tickets were due some time ago too, so I guess they know who is paid in full and who isn't, so they can move on to the wait list. And there hasn't been a big push to sell additional seats, so I'm guess the number of drops or non payments is pretty small.

There are 3 pricing levels for seats at Kyle field. Seats, benches, and nose bleed benches in the north and south. Seats and benches have a face value of about $500, and the nose bleeds are a bit of a discount, maybe about $400, but I don't recall the exact number.

When we were in the b12, there was a family package where you could get tickets on the bleachers at the south end for a family discount. 1st was full price, 2-4 were cheaper. That program went away the day we moved to the SEC and packed our schedule with games worth going to.

Half price sales on single game tickets use to be a common occurrence in the BDF, especially when conference opponents returns 75% of their allotment (looking at you Baylor).

It is great to be in the SEC when opposing fans know how to travel and care about their teams.

So A&M did not offer in '14 a special season ticket package for $325 in your nose bleed area?

It's called marketing. I can't do all the thinking around here for you. Goodness.

Nevermind that we had 109,000 tickets to sell in 2014, due to a construction event you may have heard of, and the administration delivered an opportunity to capitalize on that fact. What I also find hilarious is that you ignore the FACT that prior to that special deal for 2014 being handed down, Texas A&M had already effectively sold out the 2015 season, with no discounts whatsoever, and people were being waitlisted wanting to pay not only full market value for the tickets, but an annual donation as well. Read that again another way, for 2015 season tickets, Texas A&M fans will pay a donation to remain in a similar position on a wait list.

Once again, your argument crumbles under the weight of the facts.

So when you're saying A&M did it too, you're saying that our discounted ticket price floor was still 63% higher than the UT floor.. Even with the fact that you conveniently left out the required contribution donation which brings it up to 76% higher.

And that even in a year when the stadium capacity increased by almost 30%. And it STILL sold out.

AND in a time when a&m is supposedly trending down while Texas is on the upswing and looking for a global expansion.

Everything is fine!!!

UT sold 80k+ season tickets in 2010. they have sold ~45k for next year.

This is the trend. You can't B.S. your way around these numbers, this is the trend.

The fact is that the sips are fielding a sh*tty team in a sh*tty conference and have a sh*tty schedule and they are still going to lose a lot of the time. Why would any one buy season ticket to this sh*t show ???

Also- the 2014 A&M season was an anomaly. It was only for one year and then season tickets will be in permanent spots in 2015 because the stadium will be complete. Of course season tickets may be discounted that year. Try to find them now- at any price.

So, after not renewing by the deadline, I finally got a call last Friday from my ticket concierge dude, or whatever the hell they call him, and during his plead for me to renew, I got some insight into Bellmont's mentality under Patterson. When I brought up the suck that is Jet Pack Guy, Club Texas, Godzillatron, DJ etc., he told me that those items and similar "mini-shows" throughout the game were necessary, as "not everyone who goes to the games likes football and we strive to provide all patrons with some form of entertainment." I couldn't believe that he actually said that, even though it's pretty obvious this is how Patterson feels. That was the final straw for me, why the $#@! are we catering to idiots who go to Texas Football games and don't like Texas Football!!!

The Disneyfication of DKR Memorial Stadium. Where the football game isn't the main attraction.

It was literally an anomaly. The stadium was reseated so long term season ticket holders were asked to suspend their ownership rights for a 1 year period and then renew for another 10 year period in 2015. Even with that anomaly the cheapest tickets were 75% more than yours in a completely normal year.

I don't come to this board often but are you really this ****ing dense?

Chip, courtesy of the shag:

From Chip Brown, update regarding season ticket sales:

When I reported Monday that 12,000 football season tickets (seats) had not been renewed by the April 10 deadline, I contacted UT athletics officials for a comment. Nick Voinis, UT athletics spokesman, eventually got back to me and said the renewal deadline had been extended to June 10 and that "thousands" of tickets had been renewed since April 10. When I asked for how many "thousands" so I could provide the newest, latest, most-updated number of season tickets that had not been renewed, I never heard back from Voinis.

Bottom line: The most accurate information I have is there were 57,000 season tickets purchased for the 2014 season, and there are roughly 45,000 season tickets that have been ordered for the 2015 season. Here's a look at the lows and highs of Texas football season tickets through the years:

1998: 38,100
1999: 48,400
2000: 53,600
2001: 54,100
2002: 62,500
2003: 66,600
2004: 66,400
2005: 66,400
2006: 74,400
2007: 69,700
2008: 83,000
2009: 83,900
2010: 84,500
2011: 81,600
2012: 78,800
2013: 76,300
2014: 57,000

I'll have much more in a report I'm still putting together about the moves Steve Patterson has made since taking over as athletic director. (I'm still waiting for a couple more open records requests to be answered.)

From 84,500 to 45,000 in just 6 years. What in the world happened within that past six years that could have had such a negative impact on those ****ers? I can't think of anything.

How do you even begin to calculate the lost revenue that that represents when you factor in the ticket price plus the seat donation cost? Has to be $10 to $15 million. Sure they can sell the ticket on the secondary market for individual games, but they aren't getting the seat donation fee. No wonder they are now charging for parking and trying to charge to tailgate.

Glad they are getting all that LHN money to offset this loss.

DKR expansion would help Texas recruiting

Earlier this week, Texas announced its plan to explore the possibility of expanding Darrell K Royal Stadium with renovations of the south end zone. The school will study the feasibility of completing the south end zone with a focus on "revenue generation," according to a UT release.

Texas will study a possible expansion of Darrell K Royal Stadium that would make it the largest stadium by capacity in college football. Stacy Revere/Getty ImagesThe school's release comes at the same time as Texas A&M's renovation of Kyle Field this spring, taking the rival Aggies' stadium to a capacity of 102,000, surpassing DKR's capacity of 100,119. The Aggies' move to the SEC and on-field success with Heisman Trophy winnerJohnny Manziel has already made major waves in the state of Texas and across the college football landscape, and has given coach Kevin Sumlin plenty of weapons in his arsenal on the recruiting trail as the Aggies battle for the state's elite talents. The Kyle Field expansion adds another weapon to that arsenal.

Any planned expansion of DKR is in preliminary stages, with funds needing to be raised, a budget finalized and a construction timeline cemented it can become reality. But if the south end zone renovation eventually comes to fruition, it could push the overall capacity of DKR above 115,000, surpassing Michigan Stadium to make it the largest college football stadium in the nation.

Well, since it was the only year that the stadium had a capacity of 109,000 and there were seats that were going to disappear the next year, by definition yes, yes it was.
