on whornfans all they talk about is how Vince is so much better than Reggie by the way he played against rice and tulane...come on, i bet Lufkin High could take Rice...both players are very good quarterbacks with bright futures, but how could you make that comparison when Reggie has played Va. Tech and Pitt the last two weeks...

so since i cant post on whornfans, maybe some of the many horns that post here can explain this to me somehow...

Vince was a two ton man-mountain who could palm a medicine ball!

He had a pet cobra named Beverly that he taught to fetch and to dial a phone!

He drives an ice cream truck covered in human skulls!

Did I ever tell you about the time Vince was in a production of, "The King & I?" On opening night, Vince chloroforms the entire cast and slowly eats them in front of the audience for two hours. The production got pretty good reviews.

A ten-foot-tall, two-ton son of a ***** who could eat a hammer and take a shotgun blast standing!

He pisses farm fresh orange juice!

I still don't think we have enough information about either guy. Reggie is working with a new offense and Vince is working with a very limited offense. I would give the nod to Reggie right now because of experience. To say who will turn out to be the better QB in 2 or 3 years is pure speculation. Vince had some nice passes, but he had a couple of poor throws as well. He's obviously a talented runner, but he needs a bit more time to adjust to the speed of the game. He only scrambled a couple of times tonight (and looked good), but he seemed hesitant at times vs. NMSU & Rice. I'm encouraged that if nothing else, for this year, Vince is at least a guy to throw in and change things up a bit if Chance is struggling. I believe Chance will finish the year as the starter.

I don't give crap who's better. They're both good. Reggie is fine. Dustin is good. Both teams have wealth at QB.

I am really warming up to the 2-QB thing at Texas. We haven't seen it against a real team, but I'm getting very good vibes. I think it's an excellent way to bring Vincent along, and I think Chance is a team guy who brings his own fine qualities to the table. Same with Robin and Benson. They compliment one another.

In the Texas wins VY hasn't come in until it is clear that Texas is going to win. RM is the starter and plays most of the game. VY has limited time and rarely gets to throw because we'd be running up the score into three digit territory. This comparison is almost impossible to make at this time due to their differing roles and competition played thus far.

Limited offense? So you're saying that your highly touted RBs, TEs, QBs, and WRs are limited? You said it. Not me. It seems like we actually have the same problem though - the freakin O-line.

Will VY play next week? I hope the game is close and he comes in. Put him in a pressure situation. I think he is more apt to run than pass, right?

Limited from the standpoint that
A. Greg Davis is calling the plays. In itself, that's a huge limitation.
B. Vince plays with the entire BACKUP O-Line. If Reggie came out there with all the backups (do the Ags even HAVE backup O-Linemen?), I think he'd face a little more adversity.

On the flip side, everyone is right to say that Vince hasn't played anyone. It's stupid to think he's gone up against a good college defense because he hasn't. But if he breaks a huge series or two against KSU, then the excuses will just be "well he doesn't have to play a whole game." Honestly, I think that's a good excuse to have, for the Horns. Chance is playing well.

Yes, I think Mack will be forced to play him next week if he wants to avoid another Arkansas-like game.

Vince doesn't have to be as good as Reggie. He will have talent around him.

Reggie has to be a star. I have watched Jamar Taylor drop passes time and again. Carter fumbled away a punt. Your tight ends are not very good. Farmer is average at best. Only Courtney Lewis is a real threat, but he is damn good.

Reggie can be twiced as good as Vince, but it won't matter this year or next, because Texas is just more talented.

When I said limited, I meant as far as the scope of the kinds of plays that are called. I don't think he is comfortable with the entire offensive package yet.

I think the point about being the starter versus the backup is really valid as well. There is a huge difference between being the every down QB where the defense grows comfortable with the schemes and tendencies over the course of the game. If you come in every 3rd drive and the package completely changes, I think it is an easier spot. Plus, Young has never been put in the spot of HAVING to make a big play to give the team a chance to win. You don't know how a guy will respond in that situation until he's there.

I dispute the post that said that VY only comes in when it's clear the Horns are going to win, unless you mean that it's clear before the game starts.

He has come in on the third series in each of the last two games.

As for comparisons - I've probably been more impressed with Reggie, if only due to circumstance. About the only critique I have of him is that over the last two weeks he has pressed at times, resulting in a couple of overthrows and one toss into triple coverage that was an INT. Hardly a sin, and certainly something he'll fix sooner rather than later.

VY has only shown to this point that he can make dramatically inferior athletes look dramatically inferior. Since that's all he's been asked to do to this point, I don't see how you can hold it against him. His success rate in leading the second team to TDs against the opponent's first team is stellar. Assuming we see him in action against KState and OU, we'll have a much better basis for comparison.

But even the accuracy of that comparison will be ephemeral.

Reggie is heads and shoulders above Vince right now, we'll see what happens in a couple of years but I'll be honest McNeal scares the crap out of me.

Reggie's already proven that he has the skills for big games, and Vince has yet to play against anyone. He may be good, but he hasn't played anybody yet, so save the hot air sips. We know we have a stud in Reggie, and you guys should have hope that Vince could be a stud as well. He just isn't one yet, not saying he won't be.

Make sense, or does this factual statement get your burnt-orange panties in a wad?
