http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/college-sports/headlines/20140531-big-12-to-distribute-conference-record-220-million-to-member-schools.ece

quote:
The Big 12 allows members to market their third-tier TV rights. For Texas, which receives $15 million from ESPN for the Longhorn Network, and Oklahoma, the arrangement has been profitable and provided exposure. For other schools, it’s still a work in progress.

Oklahoma State President Burns Hargis, chairman of the Big 12 board of directors, said schools were looking at how to possibly merge all the interests and contracts into a TV contact but called it “complex” and said was “not prepared today to provide a road map” for a resolution.

Translation: A lot of work would have to be done with Texas and ESPN.

Idiots.

What would Okie Lite's tier 3 rights be worth? Maybe 2 or $300 bucks... tops??

That's what those goobers get for going along with the LHN and bashing A&M for questioning things and leaving the conference.

Now that the SECN is coming out, and the ACC getting their own in time...the little brothers of the BDF are beginning to realize that a conference network is the better way to go for the good of your whole conference. Too bad tu made sure their LHN clearly state that they couldn't be part of a conference network.

Can someone help me out with what OU is doing that is profitable and providing exposure, because I'm not even aware of their deal?

They have a conference network. It's called Fox Sports1.

tu doesnt have conference mates. They have schools that no other power conference wants without tu which makes them indentured serfs to the Austin plantation.

that's right...I forget we are all communists and hate the free market if we speak of conference networks. {/Big 12 apologist}

They're doing what basically we used to do in the Big 12 (making shows/content and selling them to Fox Sports Southwest).
They only spent a couple of million on start up costs, and keep their operating expenses low, so that's how their turning a profit. I'm not really sure about the exposure part.
It's called the Sooner Network, but it's more a production company than it is a channel.

Thie really is quite amazing. Yes, we all saw this coming. Surprise.

t.u. was the good looking rich guy who married the desperate sloot because he wanted to run around on her, spend money like crazy, and live life as he wanted.

She agreed because she had nowhere else to go and knew that even an abusive relationship with him was better than she'd get anywhere else.

Now that she has a little money, she went out and got new bewbs, a facelift, and new friends that tell her "no, you're not a sloot - you're just as good as him".

But - she isn't. Once a sloot, always a sloot.

The quality of that OU produced crap that I have seen on FSSW is pathetic. Not SEC ready!

TCU seems to think they're going to receive around 3 million per year for their 3rd tier rights. I have no idea how but that's what they think.

I have said a couple of times that sooner or later the Little 8 are going to realize how badly they are being screwed over by the sips and their LHN. They are starting to wake up. I expect next year when they see the numbers from the SEC Network and how much extra the Ags will make they will turn on the sips. I think it will get very ugly.

doesnt matter when they wake up. None of them will leave the abusive relationship because there is nowhere to go. Even the PAC told OU "not without tu"

which has to sting okie pride a little because they are Big 12 football, not tu.

Yawn. This is soooo 2012 thinking in terms of Old Rivalries. We've moved onto much different realities. Like the coming assistant coaching attrition that is going to set these football programs back a decade or so.

Just wait for the meltdown when OU has an assistant coach salary budget of around $3 million and Vandy has a $5 million budget. That is when this shlt will get really hilarious.

Seems like the only two things Bowlsby can do to keep the other teams in line is to claim right now that 8 schools are making more than Texas A&M and each school will be making $43 million by 2025.

quote:
The Big 12 announced that it would distribute a conference-record $220 million as league meetings ended Friday. Eight schools will receive full shares of $23 million each. TCU and West Virginia, which joined the league before the 2012-13 season, each received a partial share of nearly $14 million.
“The only thing worse than being in the arms race is not being in the arms race,” Commissioner Bob Bowlsby said. “And we're building facilities, and we're arming our coaches with the tools that it takes to be successful, and I don't think there is an absolute number of dollars that causes you to do that.”
The 10-team Big 12 is the only one of the five power conferences that doesn’t have its own TV network running or in the planning stages. That said, the Big 12 can’t plead poverty.
Bowlsby said he expects Big 12 revenue to climb $3 million per school for 2014-15 because of increases in the TV contract with ESPN and Fox and money from the College Football Playoff. When the $2.6 billion TV deal expires in 2025, the per-school take is expected to be more than $43 million, Bowlsby said.

Nobody says they're "pleading poverty".

They're merely upside down on their trailer.

So, when did the BDF become one of the "power conferences"?

So far, the only one with the "power", as usual, is t.u.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
"Building facilities".... 45,000-50,000 capacity temples....

"Giving our coaches tools" - Busses and Powerpoint....already!

"I don't think there's an absolute number of dollars, etc...." Technically correct. Stupid overrated money issue (in what he acknowledged is an 'arms race').
