Man, I loved Bob Hope. My dad was a big of the "Road to..." movies with Hope and Bing Crosby and grew up watching him. His All-American introductions on his variety show were always a highlight of the football season.

Little known fact: Bob Hope and Bing Crosby attended a Tech football game in Lubbock in the 40's/50's. Not sure which game or exact year but there was a pic of them in a Red Raider book.

I'm not not a Bob Hope fanatic but let's face it, nobody touched more lives than he did. I doubt anyone ever will.

Over the past 10-15 years my main feeling when thinking of him was that the world will be a different place when he's gone.

Well, now it's official. The world isn't the same. And I'm sad because of it.

I was at the MGM Studios park at Walt Disney World the year they opened MGM, and we went to a show to end the night where you had to go scope your seats about an hour before hand. It was about 100 degrees and the show was supposed to start when they came on stage to say the show had been postponed by 30 minutes. Everyone was getting pissed as we were waiting for in the heat for over an hour for a show. When who walks in from a special entrance but Mr and Mrs Bob Hope. Everyone who had been sitting there getting mad, stood up and gave him a standing ovation, because we all knew we were in the prescence of greatness.

Damn...100 is way too young.

Sorry for the levity, guys. I'm just amazed that anyone can live that long.

I read a quote somewhere that he attributed his longevity to getting a massage every day.....
