Just a little bit off topic...
I was at a Forney HS football game many years ago and at half time the Forney Highstepper Drill Team was lining up and preparing to preform. Announcer introduced the squad as the Horny Fighsteppers.

some of those nickmnames mentioned were in my district at one time such as the Cotton Pickers, Hornets, Sandcrabs, and Bears. The coolest one I've come across was the Tarpons of Port A. No football, but used to have BB I believe. Played summer baseball at the Tarpon field. Also one cool name is the Texans of Ray in CC. They have, in my opinion, the coolest uniforms of any HS team in Texas.

goodAg - There's a couple of more that should have the KKK as their mascot. When I was in school, Greenville had a CofC billboard on the edge of town proclaiming "Greenville, Texas, with the blackest land and the whitest people." Vidor would also qualify - it's been the home of the KKK for years.

Grandparents live in Winters (Blizzards) and I went to Austin High (Maroons).

What in the hell is a Vok? Maybe it a misprint. In Texas Football, it calls a team the San Antonio Lanier Voks. Can that be right?

Post Toasties would be a great for our generation, but Post Its might better fit today's crowd.

Not sure if they still do, but at one point Rockwall was called the 'Angry Orange' Yellowjackets. They had 'Angry Orange' across the chest of their uniform. Does Wylie still have AHMO on there uniform\helmet?

Paris could have been a lot of things other than Wildcats - Frogs, Apaches, Hairy Armpits, etc.

How Carthage passed up the opportunity to be the Elephants I'll never know. Maybe no one in that town ever read a book.

One mystery solved. "Voks" is short for "vocational" and Lanier was San Antonio's first vocational high school and that is their mascot.
