Illegal immigrants pay sales taxes and many with false SS#'s pay payroll taxes (although they'll never collect the SS benefits). They also pay ad valorem taxes through their rent. Over half of American citizens pay no income taxes due to the level of their incomes, and the vast majority of illegal immigrants would fall into that category if they were legalized.

The ones I have known work harder than other low income classes in American and also strive to obey the other laws so they won't get picked up and deported. Houston would have to shut down significant parts of our economy if they were all deported.

We are all aware that illegals do pay some taxes. The problem is that it's only a fraction of what they cost society so U.S. taxpayers are forced to make up the difference. They simply cannot afford first-world living expenses on a third-world income. So any "comprehensive reform" that promises to add millions more people requiring tax subsidies to live here cannot be left alone.

I hope this bill goes nationwide. I don't want my money to go to something that other people use and don't pay for.

IHOGA that there are several Swedish volley ball players living illegally in the US. I will be damned upset if they are sent away. On the other hand if the AZ law gets them to move to Texas then I'm OK.
