Did they even have audio on the course back then? I you would have to be pretty close to them for a mic to pick it up. Today you have those parabolic mics you can aim at a player and pick up what he says from 100 yards away. Plus they also run mics to alot of the tee boxes so everyone at home can hear the audio of the contact with the golf ball.

Not trying to defend Tiger here (ive been there enough lately), just trying to bring up the point that this is a terrible comparison.
