Rice is pushing it but since it is a staple of Mexican food I will allow it.

Rice would also be considered wuth the cajuns, my mom puts rice in her chili becasue she is cajun

Paint thinner is overrated as a chili ingredient.

I have judged about 25 or so Chili Cook-offs in my lifetime. I have three rules that automatically disqualify an entrant.

1. Beans in the chili - automatic DQ - The instant beans infiltrate the chili, the dish becomes ranch style beans

2. Ground meat instead of cubed meat (I use the word meat because most any type can be added - Rattlesnake, Venison, Armadillo, etc)

3. Too Mild - If eating chili doesn't cause me to break out in a sweat, it isn't chili.

I have tasted that Skyline bean crap and it is indeed sweet and tastes almost as bad as their mustard/vinegar based barbecue sauce. (Don't get me started on that swill)

I'm Cajun and we never had rice in our chili(why wast it in chili when you can have it with red beans?), but I'll take your word for it.

What is your rationalization for no ground meat? Not that I am opposed to the cubed requirement. Just curious.

I like ground meat chili. Ground VENISON chili is the best.

Chili Con Carne is originally a Mexican dish and has never had beans in it.

Beans in chili is pure sacrilege. Anyone in Texas eating beans in their chili should be shot on site.



Me... I was tought to eat it by my father: Chili, Ritz Crackers or Fritos, Cheese, and occasionally some mustard.
