am uniquely qualified to answer this question. The stars that shine / the doers / the original / "the real deal", always get bashed by the "also rans". Leaders lead and hippies criticize.
That we get a rise is evidence that we are doing something right. Jealousy pure and simple.
Even Liberal Washington Monthly has us a the best school in the nation. The most educated city in America. The highest alumni salary for any public school in the state. Aggie Governor. Aggie Mayor led Austin. Best Texas Singer Lyle Lovett is an Aggie. Most tradition/most spirit/most class/most unity/....the list is endless.
You're on these boards. You know you want to trade sides. It is not betrayal to come and join the best. To join the 1876 original. It is a Texas thing. We are the pride of the state. Slip into some maroon, give up the drugs, stop bad-mouthing your country, whoop, and come join the flock that is already in heaven.
The center of the universe in at A&M. Don't be left out on the weird fringe. Step over that homeless person, jump in your vw van and come to God's Country; where optimism and service and love of country is a way of life.
This post is the perfect example of why people make fun of Aggies. What Aggies can't grasp is that people don't make fun of Aggies in a "wow you're stupid and you're degree is worthless" sort of way with their Aggie jokes. Aggie jokes are funny because there is a huge disconnection between where Aggie thinks their place is in this world, verses where their place actually is.
I’ve met different groups of people from all over and outside of Aggie I have never heard anyone else tell me how great their college is with U.S. news rankings and bragging about some bonehead governor, or some god awful musician. You met someone from Berkley and have a conversation with them, and they don’t start dropping SAT rates, and school rankings on you. Within five minutes of talking to Aggie, you already know where Aggie is ranked in the newest U.S. News poll, an obscure reference to how great college station is according to the Scranton Daily City rankings, and how Aggie had someone on the space station for 6 days.
That’s why people tell Aggie jokes, because Aggie is so insecure about everything, they spend all their time puffing their chest and telling everyone how great they are nonstop.
By the way, Lyle Lovett is god awful and is in no way the best Texas singer. Why would you brag about something
liberal Washington Monthly said?
