Direct quote from LSU position coach(I'll try to find the link) re: Jamarkus McFarland, made a week before Halloween:

"His momma came into the office with a hand out, and she wasn't looking for high fives."

Pooooooooooor dirtburglar, the NCAA will soon come calling yet again.

I bet OU drops this kid and gets the hell away from that broad as fast as possible.

Oh my God what a mess.

Kid seems like a good person, too.

This is going to end badly for him before it starts.

All jokes aside, everything I've heard about this kid has been positive. He is a strong student and seems to have a good head on his shoulders. I hope this doesn't come back in a way he and his family will soon regret.

Right, it's Texas who started all of this, not him, his sorry excuse for a mother, and that joke of a writer for the New York Times.

Sometimes people bring their moutain of problems on themselves. They threw mud at Texas, and now it is getting thrown back at them. I stopped feeling sorry for the kid the minute he admitted it was all a fairytale. People have to learn there are consequences for their actions.

That bear is a victim of global warming and George Bush is at fault. He (W, not the bear) should be charged with crimes against humanity.

Jmac's mom is whack. The kid is caught in a bad situation from everything I have read. Pursue your dream against your mom's wishes. Not an enviable position for a 17 year old.

Where is the spin? Did I miss the part where Jamarkus and his mother provided evidence of all their allegations? So far, the only people spinning are those two. And, well, you.

You know the UT ties have been cut. OU may soon have to cut it losses to avoid NCAA problems...May be time for A&M and Baylor to make a call to this kid. Why not ?? Just be sure to high five the mom....

Another interesting tidibit for this story. The author of the NYT piece at the center of this controversy, one Thayer Evans, just happens to be a former employee of Sooner Illustrated and its distinguished editor, convicted felon James Hale. This thing just keeps getting better and better.

Give me a break, OD. This story is falling apart like a house of cards. Anybody who believes any of this crap is being ridiculous.

Aside from his admitted embellishment of the Texas party, where is it falling apart?

In my mind, the fact that he said that wasn't true, but the rest is, only goes to strengthen what he is saying. Why would he take back only part of it?

Makes no sense.

What evidence? It's a newspaper article, not a court of law.

The writer is a former employee of a pro-Sooner publication, and there has been no proof to corroborate any of McFarland's, Adams's, or Evans's stories. A recent Orangebloods article, however, has interviews from 3 individuals who were with Ja-Mac the night of the game that said they were at Dryer St. Bar and nothing like what was said went on. The simple fact that there was an actual location named is more proof than anything in the NYT piece. Stop being so naive.

Exactly. So why accuse Texas of "spinning" when nothing those two idiots have said has been proven to be even remotely accurate? Unless you're saying it's okay to believe everything you see printed in a newspaper, and in that case, God help you.

Ever find that link?

You know, it's a violation of NCAA rules for a coach to make any comments about a recruit.

There probably isn't a link. Everybody just figures that if McFarland can make up a good story then they can too.
bassale47
How long do you want to ignore this user?
A link to what? The fact that he wrote a fictional account of a party he attended, supposedly thrown by Texas fans, in which girls were getting naked and "romancing" each other, and he was being offered booze and drugs? I think you can find that one for yourself.

I do have a link to an article in which three witnesses and his high school football coach blow his and his mother's story wide open, but it wouldn't do you much good if you don't subscribe to Orangebloods.

The link to the supposed direct quote from an LSU assistant referenced in the initial post. Seems odd that a guy would cite a supposed direct quote, but not be able to find where he got it from.

Just seems a bit peculiar.

Cowtown Red
How long do you want to ignore this user?
bassale47, you seem to insinuate that because I'm questioning the validity of the initial post here that I must believe McFarland and his mother.

That's not the case at all. His story would be more believable had it not been written by a guy clearly aligned with the OU athletic department.

Great source! In other news, per a post by Billy Liucci of Texags.com, McFarland did angel dust with Miles, Stoops and Brown but Sherman said "no thanks" thus the reasoning for A&M never being considered.

It was in a DMN blog this week.
Cowtown Red

Ah, the unnamed assistant quoted in a blog.

That makes more sense I guess. Any assistant coach who values his job would be an idiot to make comments like that on the record.

Not sure it's any more believable. If the mom wanted money, and LSU wanted the kid, they'd have paid it.
SR90
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The fact that he admitted that part of the story was a lie does NOT make the rest of his story any more believable. Think that would fly in a court of law?

It sounds like the kid's story is coming apart at the seams to me.

Orangebloods is a more valid source than that hatchet job NY Times article, but you all seem to be in a big hurry to believe that one.

Let me get this straight. The NYT article is void because it is written by an OU homer that had an agenda but the one written on Orangebloods is what really happened???

Didn't the one from Orange Bloods contain direct quotes from his High School coach and other recruits and players?

The NYT **** didn't quote anyone nor get
specific about anything .....and has been retracted by McFarlan himself.

So an LSU coach is put off enough by the kid wanting extras to make a public comment about it? Really? The whole Perriloux thing, not to mention other LSU recruits, has me skeptical about this claim.
