Looking at purchasing a property in Brazos valley area with an old house that we would like to demo. Any idea on costs? Figured I could pull permits, get utilities disconnected, rent a skid steer/ backhoe and a haul off, fill and remove a few times. Does this sound feasible or am I overlooking the amount of work it takes?

~1600 2 story, wood, pier and beam.

Love the ambition but this is a scope of work best suited for a company that exists to perform that scope of work over and over again. Albo LLC or google search home demolition in Brazos Valley and others will pop up.

Is there something specific about this property, like location, that makes it so interesting?

About a year ago, I called around to some equipment rental companies in East Texas because I wanted to rent a skid steer and mulcher implement to thin out a plot of land we have there. They basically all said that that was too dangerous of a job and they would not rent the equipment for that. At first I was upset but the more I thought about it the more I realize that I would not rent $100,000+ worth of equipment for such a potentially dangerous job like that either. For what it's worth I just had a similar sized home demolished and hauled off for $6500. So it might not be worth the equipment rental and your time.

But on the other hand, I also just demolished my 20 x 20 garage on the backside of my house because no demo companies want to touch it because of the 8 foot proximity to my home. We did it by hand and I think it cost me a total of about $2000 in labor and jackhammer rentals. And if you don't have rebar in the concrete (thanks Frank Sharp) you'll have that concrete out of there in no time, haha. I would actually run a skid steer with a concrete breaker for your size of home. You will want to scrap the wire and metal if there is any well as take the concrete to someone who will pay you for it. They will pay you something like five dollars a ton, but that's better than having to pay someone to take it.

Either way, good luck!
