Everybody loves Bridgeland. It is kind of like the new Woodlands along with Woodforest. Near 99 in the northwest portion of the metro area. Same developer. Howard Hughes. The only negatives are the insanely high property taxes. I have heard as high as 3.7 and 3.8%. Is that true?
Not far off if you include HOA fees. Two benefits to counter that cost: 1) wonderful amenities. Lots of open space. Gyms, parks, etc. 2) home values significantly higher than similar homes in area neighborhoods.
The rise in home values is a double edged sword. It costs more at tax time, but if/when you sell...you'll make a lot of that difference back in sale price.
I do notice every year around this time a lot of new residents complaining about the taxes and HOA fees. It amazes me how many people make a major purchase without understanding the entire cost.
