I'm a new first time home owner closing next week. And looking for home insurance in Harris County. Unfortunately I have State Farm for my car, but they aren't taking any new home insurance in Harris County right now.

How do you choose the best one for you? What do you look for?

So far I have been quoted by Kin Insurance (A rating), Universal North America, and Farmers Insurance. Any other good recs?

If you priced with three carriers just make sure the coverage and deductibles are the same to compare and go with the best one. If you really want one more you can call Lierre in college station. Run by Ags and ask for Joe. But you most likely have done enough due diligence at this point.

Get what you pay for. Remember that if you ever file a claim. Also, make sure to have an all risk policy not a named peril policy.
