Anyone have any insight on the VA's new Veteran Assistance Servicing Purchase (VASP) program? From research I've done online, seems like it's been talked about for a year and is expected to rollout sometime this year. Curious if anyone knows if it is certain to rollout or if congress could hold it up for months if not years.
I'm in a position to assume a VA loan. I am not a veteran. The loan has been in forbearance and seems likely it will qualify for VASP. Curious if I should try to wait until the loan transfers to VASP to bring the interest rate down to 2.5% then assume, but uncertain on how long that will be. Seller's VA rep & his current servicer both expect the program to be available in May. However, it's government. Thanks for any insight!
