Looking for a good beach that's a bit off the radar. We did surfside beach and it was great, but way too many people. The sand was perfect though ( for texas beaches anyways).

Whitecap is always a good time

Not exactly off the radar tho, gets pretty crowded

If you want a beach that's off the radar go down by Sargent way. Is it good? Is any beach in Texas good? BTW, they just built a bridge over the intercoastal so you don't get caught for a half hour any more at the swing bridge.

I saw some beachfront lots for sale in this area on realtor… didn't look bad (for texas).

To live on or visit? If its Visit, fire up the 4x4 and take off down Padre Island National Seashore. You'll quickly get away from people and any other civilization

I am a Florida girl. Florida gulf beaches or nothing for me. Yes, I know I am spoiled.

Good choice. You will love it. White sand and clear aquamarine water. There is nothing like it in the US.

Even Gulf Shores/Orange Beach or Pensacola are better options than SPI and a little bit closer than Destin.

We were just in Port A last week and it was great. It's not Florida sand, but the water was blue-ish and it's affordable.

Was there last week too. Beaches are great, but the seaweed was thick in the surf! Hope that disappears.

It's packed. Like 6-8 rows deep in places. I like Destin, but it's not easy to get around at times due to traffic and the beaches are only accessed by foot. So, bring a wagon at least and pack light.

And get there early.

I love South Padre. It's a sleepy town that doesn't change much from year to year (or decade to decade). I go for a week every year, and I'm shocked that the same bands, bar tenders and patrons are all still there.

I'm trying out the Florida panhandle next week. I think we found a relatively low traffic area by the Flora Bama. The big cities like Panama City and Destin aren't for me.

Still plenty of people there but not as packed as Destin. We stayed in Orange Beach for a night on the way to Navarro Beach.

Prob one of the Top 2 or 3 things about the beaches outside of TX - no stinking vehicle traffic. Which translates into - no, white trash, you cannot bring your RV, all your family, the kitchen sink, your 4 trucks, 6 pop ups, and ALL YOUR JUNK onto the beach.

You gotta do it by foot. With a wagon. And the fats aint gonna do it. So the beaches are much, much nicer.

That's the nice part about the Port A beach near town, is you can drive on beach access road but not all the way to the water. White trash quotient I'd much lower in that part of the beach

Next time go to the "free" beach, which is about a 10-minute drive past the bridge going toward Galveston. It's called the county beach. We go there every Saturday and if we drive far enough toward San Luis Pass there's nobody within 50 yards of us all day.
