So we had a storm come through awhile back and one of my trees, bradford pear you would guess correct, and it split the tree with half still standing and half falling on my vehicles and home. Not much damage but they would not include the damage to the cars so deductible for all applies. that sucks.

So my question is two fold.

1. they say they are not liable for removing the remaining tree standing.

2. do I have a claim for diminished value of the property losing a 30 foot plus tree in my front yard?

This is my firs HO claim in 24 years I am not very familiar with these policies

thanks

No and No.

Was previously in insurance.

Not sure who your policy is with. But when you are insuring your property you are not insuring the trees on property. You are insuring the structure(s).

You could have your car in the garage, house fire destroys the car and you still would have to file claim under the vehicle insurance.

The only time I have heard of insurance requiring the removal of a tree is when whatever is left of it is likely to fall and cause more damage to the structure.

That being said, I have no idea if they paid for it or not.
