My wife and I own 18 acres in Burleson county. We've been looking for someone who isn't charging over $100 a sqft... Can anyone recommend a few builders?

Give Paul Manley a call. Manley Homes. +1 (409) 670-6241. He is a do it all builder here in town, doesn't mind working outta town.

Friend of mine used Willis Custom Homes and liked them.

Do not use anything associated with Philip Norton.

His latest "referral" scam is called 7 United LLC.

He goes by C-M Contracting, Norton Enterprises, and who knows what else.

Be careful. Seems there are more crooks than honest building contractors these days.

Also post this on the Outdoor Board. This gets discussed a bunch over there.

Good luck.

I used Willis custom homes last year, and they did a great job.

I'm also looking for some recommendations for a builder in Houston area. Specifically matagorda county.

Ask on the outdoor board.

Lots of hunters and fishermen over there with places in the area.

I don't know the cost of these, but would it be cost effective to buy land and build barndominium to live in for a couple of years, while saving to build house. Overall goal to have land, shop, and house, so can barndominium be converted back to regular shop when home is built or is that just throwing away a lot of money?

Depending on how you built out the living quarters of the barndominium it would be a great way to save to build a future house.

I think you're right, only I have a wife and two kids, so I would need a fairly decent build out to live in a few years that might be counterproductive to tear our later.

I guess alternative could be living in a mobile home, and build shop.
