Anyone here have their homeowners insurance with Travelers? I'm shopping around and making the switch from Farm Bureau. Opinions?

Was quoted by Bryan at Liere and looking at substantial savings per year. Almost too good to be true.

Never dealt with them on homeowners but have some corporate policies with them and have been good to deal with.

I know they supposedly won't cover any gun they consider an assault rifle, which they apparently don't provide a definition for.

May all be BS but is definitely something to ask about it if applies to you.

6+ year old links and they are from other states.

Things vary from state to state.

Travelers really took care of me after the East Dallas hailstorm in 2012 -- very fair and responsive.

That being said though, my premiums have since doubled and I'm seriously considering switching to an Aggie insurance broker here who writes Allstate policies.

Hence the use of "supposedly" and why I mentioned to ask about it.

Just dealt with them on a roof claim. No complaints.

Travelers is a good insurance company. I just switched everything from Safeco to Travelers on 5/11. Raised my auto limits to $500K CSL and added an umbrella for less than I would have paid renewing with Safeco. They are financially strong ($2 Billion+ in assets and an A++ rating on AM Best) and have not heard of many issues with claims.

If you think the price is too good to be true look at what endorsements were added. A lot of potential high dollar claims are not covered on the standard form, specifically for water damage. A few good ones to have are the Enhanced home package (HO85) which includes extended dwelling coverage, water back up, and replacement cost on your personal property. Foundation damage, building ordinance or law, and special personal property coverage (HO15) are good ones to have as well. Also look at your coverage level. They range from value to platinum in Texas. I have platinum, but you may be comfortable with silver or gold coverage if you are trying to keep premiums down.

My experience, at the advice of my local independent agent, was just like Matt2100. Raised some numbers and added an umbrella and still lowered my premium.

I think anything is cheaper than Farm Bureau.

1 year ago i switched my policies from Travelers (Liere) to Amica. Here is my policy comparison chart or annual charges.

Our insurance situation might be a bit more complex than yours because we have a rental home.

Accidental Discharge, Leakage or Overflow of
Water or Steam from within a plumbing, heating
or air conditioning system or household
appliance.
A loss resulting from this peril includes the cost
of tearing out and replacing any part of the
building necessary to repair or replace the
system or appliance. But this does not include
loss to the system or appliance from which the
water or steam escaped.

Items listed above are covered. Obviously flooding is not covered.

Damage must be reported with 30 days of event or when you learn about it/should have learned about it.
